Does anybody know anything about the AMC DAC8 Digital to Analog converter?

I use the Benchmark DAC1, but know nothing about that model. Got a link to it?

There's not a huge pure digital contingent here, unfortunately. For whatever reason, the readership tends to skew somewhat towards the older folks. There are other forums where digital is discussed a lot more intensely.

You might post this over in the Digital Domain forum though.

Thanks for the reply, here is the link

I am fairly new to to the audio thing so on paper it does not mean alot to me. There are not may places that carry this kind of equipment nearby either so it make it hard to audition.

How do you plan to use this?

I am thinking of using it as an inexpensive upgrade for an old but good Denon DCD-1420.

Life on a budget is no fun but it does make you creative.

Can you be a little more specific? I take it the Denon is a CD player. That means you'll have some other source for your digital signal, yes? Will it be a computer, a transport, both, other?

More specifically, I'm wondering whether you need four separate inputs. Also, it matters what you're plugging it into -- this unit only has one analog output, and that link doesn't say whether it's RCA or XLR, or what.

You also may want to look at the Lite Audio DAC60 and the Storm Digital DAC; both these have gotten positive feedback from other uses, and I think they're roughly in the same price range.

Here's a thread on the Lite Audio DAC:

Here's one on the Storm Digital DAC:

Those are slightly more expensive than the model you're looking at, but you may be able to get one used.
