Well maybe not just itunes but any DRM mp3 file will drain your battery by as much as 25%.
It takes more processing power to read and verify the DRM.

Read it here

I say buy the album and rip the files yourself. I be offered to download in flac or any lossless format.

Quick tip to get around drm. Burn your mp3 files as cd audio (nero, roxio, and others will convert from mp3 to cd audio) not mp3 files. During this conversion it removes the DRM, then re-rip it back to mp3, and tada DRM free mp3's.

You'll lose sound quality this way if you re-rip with any significant level of compression.

Even better -- and much easier -- is to use Jhymn to remove the DRM:

However, it currently doesn't work on iTunes 6 -- only previous versions. Therefore, do NOT upgrade to iTunes 6 if you haven't done so yet. And if you have, don't do any more upgrades. Eventually, the Jhymn programmers will catch up to v6. But Apple will likely stay a step ahead by issuing v7 soon after.
