<img src=http://www.stpauligirl.com/TheGirl/images/pic2004Poster.jpg align=left hspace=10>Yeah, Wilco is still cool with me. Anybody else still listen to this one? Kind of a Wilco day down in the southwest. Took it out for a couple spins today, this is not a joke so please stop smiling. Sometimes I need a camera to my eye, reminding me which lies I have been hiding. Because my mind is filled with silvery stars, thinking that you have to learn how to die if you wanna be alive. You were right about the stars, every one is a setting sun. I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a f<a>uck. I miss the innocence I've known, playing Kiss covers, beautiful and stoned. But if I could, you know I would just hold your hand, and you'd understand that I'm the man who loves you. And every song's a comeback - every moment's a little bit later. When it's hot in the poor places tonight, I'm not going outside. I've got reservations about so many things, but not about you :)

Hey, any beer set aside for the weekend? I've got some St. Pauli Girl cooling off right now. There's a pretty cool liquor store not far from me that stocks tons of different beers from around the globe, but they also feature stacks of the freshest St. Pauli Girl I've tasted, maybe ever. I used to think it was just a Beck's clone, same thing with a different label. But got some last week and was knocked out at how good it tasted. Much, much better than Beck's. More body, less carbonation, great head, nice flowery aroma. Choice. So I picked up another 12er last night. They always have it for $9.99 too. Stacked to the ceiling. I mean the beer, not the girl :)

I've been working out a couple of the toons on my acoustic. Wilco will always be cool with me, and they did a great show. So where the hell have you been, and how did you get to put the word "****" in your text and not have it edited? WTF is up with that?

Hey dude, it looks like I'll be seeing Broken Social Scene on March 26th, and now I just found out that the Super Furry Animals are in Philly on Feb. 12, and it looks like the Mrs. will be going to that show with me. I haven't been to a really good show since Los Lobos, although Hot Tuna acoustic was pretty damn good.

I almost forgot about beer! I'll be sticking to mostly the low-carb Miller Lite, but I will have a couple bottles of Anchor Steam to keep me happy.

Roger that. Yeah, I love that disc.

I made a Wilco comp a while ago, and had a ***** of a time selecting tracks from YHF and Being There. They're all so damn good.

I definitely recommend watching the documentary, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, if you can find it at your local rental place. Interesting glimpse into the making of the album, the struggle with the label, and the split with Jay Bennett.

Re: Beer...I bought a 6 of Grolsch Amber a couple days agao. It's good, but I like a lot of others better. I'm going to a Japanese place tonight, so I might go for the sake instead.

Drinking heavily the night before ;)

Guess I overdid the beer thing last night. Foster's + Molson = a headache that lasts 'til 1:00 PM the next day and Advil is outta its league :(

Yeah, YHF just seems to get better with age, doesn't it? This is definitely one of those albums that'll never get too dusty at my house :)

I pulled YHF out a coupla nights ago to burn an eval copy for a co-worker- damn thing wouldn't copy. Got to the end of the copy process (twice) and gave some squirrely error code like Your burner will blow up in 3 seconds and you will rot in hell forever. Made me wonder if it is protected, but I think Ive ripped songs from it before.....

If I remember correctly, there is some non-audio stuff on that CD. Could that have anything to do with it? Are you ripping the audio tracks to WAV files first, then burning from them?

You're right aboout the non-audio stuff, Stone, but Feurio deselects the data track prior to ripping the tunes. And yes, I always rip to WAVs, then burn.

Foster's + Molson = a headache
Yeah, Molson's isn't very good beer, although I wouldn't be at all surprised if it tasted a lot better from a fresh-tapped keg at a Canadian pub. Too bad that so many people think of that or Moosehead as what Canadian beer is all about. When I was in Vancouver last summer I had some outstanding brews, but I haven't seen any of them available down here. Guess it's kinda the same story with the US.

But speaking of US brews, I picked up a six of Blue Moon Belgian White Ale a week or so ago cause it was on sale at the local supermarket and it was really good. I used to get it a long time ago before they were taken over by Coor's (at least I think it was before), but it's still good stuff. Maybe not as good as my memory says it could be, but OK nonetheless. Not much head though, and I do like head.

Molson was on tap at a bar. Hey, it was that or Bud or Coors Light. Not much of a choice, eh?

Foster's is my fave cheap lager and it doesn't give me a headache. I think I need to get me some Hoffbrau Munchin lager tonight. Good stuff and less than $25 a case at most places (kinda hard to find sometimes, though).

Picked up the Blood Simple DVD today. Never seen it but since Miller's Crossing is one of my favorite movies I figure this one ought to be good too (if not, it was only $10).

St.Pauli Girl and the triumphant Return to Cookie Mountain, what do you have on tap that's cooler than that? Hehehe, yea I know, be kind. Instead of making new threads about my latest beer and jam, figure I'll just recycle old ones. Less embarrassing when no one responds, except for the occasional lame joke :)

But seriously Shirley, anyone still listening to TV on the Radio? This is some good ass ****! I'm sure most of you indie elitist snobs know this was Spin's record of the year in 2006? Might've been mine too, cept I got it kind of late, and I did kind of love that Wovenhand thing. But Spin's not really a indie mag anymore, is it? Or was it ever? Of course, TV on the Radio isn't really an indie band anymore either, is it? Such weighty questions for a Friday, eh?

What's the best year of the new millennium for rock music? And what's on tap?

...and stepping out on a limb to the commercial real estate world because the residential side is a f<a>ucking mess. Tonight I am getting my arse ripped on TRÖEGS Pale Ale, one of my local microbrewery favorites, whilst smoking a nice Rocky Patel 1990 Vintage on the patio while playing that great Decemberists song Grace Cathedral Hill, along with some Lucindra Williams and a little Dylan on my sweet Guild acoustic.

Counting down the seconds until I see my granddaughter Nora on Sunday!

...and they were indicative of my visit to a local establishment for happy hour earlier in the evening. They have Sam Adams Summer Ale on tap, so I had a few of those, then home for the pale ale I mentioned. Arose at 5 AM for no apparent reason, and will be heading out for racquetball at about 8 and with just a bit of a hangover.

Funny, I got a case of St. Pauli Girl last night too. It has become my defacto beer as of late. Found a place that sells it for $22, tax included. Wonder what it costs in Germany?

Enjoying the new Pinback but I'll shut up about it until the official release.

On a whim a friend decided to buy a 5-string bass yesterday so we got a few people together at his house last night. Him on bass, me on his drums, and a couple of other friends on guitars. Whatta gawd-awful racket but fun nonetheless.

After all that I need something a bit more calming this morning so NP:

I can check for you, since I'm flying to Dusseldorf tomorrow, but I don't think I'll drink any of it.

(I won't tell anyone) I don't care for St. Pauli much myself as I steer toward pale ales nearly all the time, either micro-brews or British stuff. While the PA beer prices are a bit high, I actually get all mine at cost and with free delivery. How you ask? Well, if I didn't already mention it here, and I don't believe I did, I'm part-owner of a beer distributor not too far from my home. My oldest brother and I helped a good friend acquire it and he runs it for us. Took it over officially on April 2nd and it's going great. Bought it from a guy who had it for 35 years and the sales were always strong, at least in accordance with the purchase price. I call the friend, tell him what I want, and he drops it off for me on his way home from work. What a deal!

Naw, I got it from one of those cheesy drive-through places. Didn't even ask how much it was and was surprised at the price. Maybe it was on sale.

One of our guitarists from last night brews his own stuff and has really gotten quite good at it. Latest batch was a tasty Belgian white ale. I keep meaning to have him teach me some but haven't found the time. He says he only has $300 invested in brew equipment and typically spends about $20 to brew a case. I don't know if it's worth the trouble.

...plenty of spare time on your hands. I tried it a couple times with so-so results, but it was quite a chore. Everything has be be sterilized first, and you have to be very careful with everything that could touch the beer. Too many steps, too much time...no thanks, I'll just buy my beer.

Jericho Charlie hasn't pulled out YFH forever. Not even really sure where it is, probably an under the bed storage box in my room or the guest room.

Been listening to Seabears lately. Has what is probably a touch of twee, as a lot of Morr releases tend to, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Iron and Wine shading towards a touch of the Lucksmiths? Maybe. Black Audio is probably the most disposable of the disposable discs I've grabbed this year. You Say Party! We Say Die! is a very pleasant surprise in a B-52's meets X-Ray Spex in a dark alley. Pretty cool but I've only listened once. Now it's on to the unopened vinyl copy of The Go!Team's, Thunder, Lightning, Strike, that I found for a buck. How did I miss this record? It's awesome.

My beer of choice this weekend for the big subdivision Pig Roast is Old Milwaukee Non-Alcoholic. Surely that will make someone cringe.
