LG to deliver dual-format HD DVD/Blu-ray

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Korea's LG Electronics Inc. (066570.K: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Tuesday it planned to launch a next-generation DVD player that will bridge the yawning gap between two competing formats by playing both HD DVD and Blu-ray.

With the production of dual format players to battle between hd-dvd and blue ray has already been won by hd-dvd.

Is is cheaper to produce and uses the current technology. Business will have a hard time justifying production of a more expense blu-ray product with no additional benefit.
