I am interested in getting into vinyl and the whole analog thing. Where is the best place to buy new lp's? I have no record stores that sell vinyl in the area of Florida where I live. Is there a good website with pictures and reviews. Most sites that I have found through Google are just basic, low-budget sites probably because they are just small mom and pop stores. I use Tower Records alot but the records that I have found on their site are often $20-$30. Are these normal prices for lp's? Is Tower a good site for Vinyl? I have a feeling that there is some great place that every vinyl lover shops and I just havent heard of it. Please help if possible. Thanks.

www.amusicdirect.com and Acoustic Sounds have a nice selection of vinyl and analog equipment.

Music Direct seems to have the biggest selection of quality vinyl that I've seen online. You might want to broaden your search for local retail stores. A surprising number of them have small vinyl sections. You might also need to stretch out the distance you're willing to drive. In general, areas close to college campuses or neighborhoods with a lot of creative/artistic types will support music stores that carry vinyl. You just need to look.

Depending on the genre you're looking for, you might also want to look for a local store catering to DJs. Most of the music carried at those stores is in vinyl, and even if you're not into dance music or hip-hop, some of those types of stores have a surprising number of vintage R&B and jazz LPs because DJs like to mix those genres in with their newer tracks.

Hi and welcome to the wonderous world of vinyl. As John Michael pointed out www.acousticsounds.com is a good start. Also for second hand (and new) www.gemm.com is great. Little bit pricey but the gradings are usually spot on and the private sellers are reliable.

Have a great trip.

Bernd

P.S. A really funny book to read is: Vinyl Junkies (Adventures in Record Collecting) by Brett Milano.

Thank you BrandonH!!! I just cut and pasted that list to My Favorites. I'm lucky enough to live close to a dozen record stores, plus multiple conventions throughout the year, but you just did a massive amount of homework for me. :D Thanks. :D

Oh I click in from time to time, usually read the Analog Room portion on this site only to see whats been going on.
Have not been doing much with audio because I recently bought a new car and been doing upgrades to it for the time being...spending more time on Automobile forms lately.

I hope all is well with you.
Oh was there a specific question?
