I was over at Audioholics and found this...........

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17608

Looks like our old buddy has been banned for plagiarism (sp?). He has been copying other people DVD Review work!

What a dumbass fraud! :D

Makes you wonder how many of his reviews here are his own? Looks like the guy he ripped off might be going after him.

Oooooo! My day is complete now.

hmmm, and the review posted June 2001 (http://www.dvdtown.com/review/Shining_The__New_Kubrick_Colle/7657/717/) certainly looks identical to this one dated Dec 12, by our own lex... (http://forums.audioreview.com/showthread.php?t=15339)whoever DJ Scotty may be....

that same Shining dvd review is in our fav films section, shouldn't it be removed for plagiarism as well?

not sure if that's in the user guidelines or not, but sure seems like a pretty crappy thing to let happen on your site if the admin people can check it out and do something about it.

Edit: Woops, that was nodin's comment above, hate flogging a dead horse.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

With hundreds of posts per day it's impossible to check them. This one was an obvious plagiarism. If you see ANY more from this member please tell us.

I am all over the net looking at different review styles we could perhaps implement here in the near future. I have seen alot of reviews that look like the our own little out of date printers reviews. He doesn't even know that much about the basic format to do any kind of video or sound review on any DVD. I am just not surprised at all(shakes head, kicks dirt, and leaves)

Wow! Looks like the day of reckoning has arrived for the "professional reviewer." The DVD Town reviewer that Lex thieved from has not been taking this lightly, and has gotten Lex banned from the DVD Talk, Audioholics, and Home Theater Talk sites, all of which I will lurk on from time to time.

http://www.dvdtown.com/messageboard/topic/11/20338/

He posts the same crap on every one of those sites, even recycling topics that he's written about on other boards; and there are the usual thin-skinned accusations and persecution complex that comes out whenever anyone disagrees with him. Those of us who've been on the board for an extended time have seen his act time and time again under all kinds of different names. Some of the more memorable exchanges under his previous To Live And Die In NY moniker (and his laughable denials about his other screen names when he started posting under the Lexmark3200 name) are linked below. These hijacked threads are hilarious!

http://forums.audioreview.com/showpost.php?p=100589&postcount=61
http://forums.audioreview.com/showthread.php?t=13234&page=1&pp=25

A simple Google search will find that he doesn't just dump on home theater boards, but automotive sites as well. If he's really a "professional reviewer," I don't see how this amateurish attitude can carry him too far. Here are some choice gems that I've found on some other sites. (His anti-women tirade on the Home Theater Talk "War of the Worlds" discussion is both disturbing and side-splittingly funny)

While it's time to pop the champagne corks that this twit has left the building and exposed for the fraud that most of us already knew he was, there is a slight bit of sadness in the air. I mean, who else is going to assume the role of the AR court jester? The entertainment value of Lex's synaptic misfires was priceless! Last thing any of us would want is for him to get well and start posting like a normal person.

Oh well, it will only be a matter of time before he tries another screen name, or starts posting on yet another site!

Well said! For those of us that have been dealing and "communicating" with this guy for a few years now, it's kindof like there is now a void here now. Lex was a fraud from day one but he was an entertaining fraud none the less. But, he crossed the line with he ripped off another writer word for word. I know he is probably screaming at his monitor in frustration when he reads these post about his demise. Helpless to do anything about it now. But, like you said, he will be back under another moniker. That is for sure. As many of us know, he has to get the last word no matter what.

2) We need to get that Mike Knapp guy to come to ar.com.

Irony of ironies, I even warned that guy that he should be more worried about someone ripping off HIS reviews than defending some point of his 'til death.

Hmph! I even encouraged others to lighten up on him. Of course he always deserved the beatings he took, but sometimes I thought the beatings were a little out of proportion to the offense.

I read "The Shining" review and actually thought that was Lex's. Didn't suspect a thing. The verbosity/lengthy sentences did read like his, but I should have known it wasn't when there was no mention of his "ex", or moving to Vegas, or the good ol' days in Brooklyn, or his colleagues, or his editors.(FN1) I don't think he picked that review at random. He's probably been copying the original author's style for a long time to the point where he could pass one off as his own. Fortunately for the original author, it IS a small world after all.

But what is striking is there was nothing to be gained by this shameful act.

When you read some of John P.'s reviews you can defintely see where Lex got his style. But, for some moronic reason though, he took it a step farther and ripped him off. It's amazing how small the "World Wide Web" can actually be sometimes. What a bonehead move. It's almost like his original sane subconscious from the time of birth kicked in and made him do it to teach him a lesson, knowing he would be caught.

Get rid of the "Terrible" moniker, and you lose your knighthood. And I can't possibly see you voluntarily losing the prefix just to get rid of the suffix. I mean, a world without us referring to Terrence as "Sir" is unthinkable!

Oh, I'm just counting down the seconds before that new screen name pops up on this thread. Tutti just can't let a thread like this one go without a meltdown of some sort.

But, I think we should also be on the lookout over in the Home Theater forum for any new members spouting off dumb questions about SPL meters and Onkyo receivers. Nowadays, Tutti can't be bothered with writing anything original -- he just cuts and pastes the same drivel over and over.

It's funny how the Superhonda site administrators were wise to his act and called him out -- even when caught flat footed plaigarizing HIS OWN POSTS under different screen names, he still denied it! (Just like he STILL denies knowing who To Live And Die In NY is) "Massive tool shed," "More proof of MASSIVE toolness," and "Come on playboy, you think I wouldn't call you out on this again?" are some of the best blasts I've ever seen a site administrator level on a troll!

Sorry to bring up old stuff but I just wanted to get this out of the way and say that this is one of the threads which lead me to register here. My sister was reading and every few minutes she would giggle. Curiosity got the best of me and I asked her just what in the hell she is reading. BAM. This guy. Not this specific thread but on another site which led me to do some internet snooping because I just couldn't get enough. And I already apologized to my sister for not giving her laptop back because I needed it!

Everyone's favorite member has since been booted off a few other sites and still draws the ire of many with whom he interacts.

I won't say any more as I'm sure most people here are more mature than I am and have already let this one go. But if anyone is curious, I'd be more than happy to spill the beans.

What's up, bobsticks. I was a little apprehensive about elaborating but as I see you're a mod here, I guess it's okay! Haha alright. Here it is:

As I had mentioned, my sister got me reading about this Lexmark/TLADINY/many other aliases. Mostly about his Onkyo and neverending quest to find the perfect crossover point for his speakers and his total confusion as to the available functions of his Onkyo 605.

I immediately recognized Lexmark's writing style and knew I had seen it before somewhere. Curiosity got the best of me and I dug around the internet for a couple hours and he's definitely a "ban dodger" (LOL that's a funny term) and he's been banned from at least seven other forums that I happened to find, some with at least two or three different aliases. Strangely, he still asks the same questions over and over and over. I don't understand why he does that.

When I first started reading his threads here, I thought you guys were being a little hard on him but eight forums can't be wrong. Haha I wish I was here during that time. I wouldn't be surprised if he's back here under another alias. Spooky!

Just in case people are wondering, he's been banned from:

Blu-ray.com (two aliases)
Club Polk (two aliases)
High Def Junkie (one alias)
Audiophile (one alias)
DVD Talk (two aliases, maybe three)
SuperHonda (three aliases but only two banned)
High Def Forum (two aliases)
And it looks like he was banned here as well under two (three?) aliases.

And this was just about a couple hours of scouring the net. He posts over at Home Theater Shack (HTS) now and also posts movie reviews there. He's not banned from HTS as they have a really, really, really strict set of rules which outlaws any sort of fighting so I think everyone there just tolerates it for fear of being banned.

Haha oh man, I can go on and on. Discovering him helped me pass the time here in the office since it's so damn slow here during the summer. And surprisingly, it's really not that difficult to find him. I literally used the same search terms on different forums and he just kept popping up asking the same things over and over. I have to say that I enjoy reading his threads immensely.

But on a serious note, I wonder if he ever figured out the perfect crossover point for his speakers.
