Jan 20 (I think)- At long last, Jason Molina's "Pyramid Electric Co" on vinyl with a cd included, ala the vinyl version of Magnolia Electric Co. I just pre-ordered it at Insound for $11.99- now to wait by the mailbox..............

Hey, is that the same Places (Amy Annelle) that did The Autopilot Knows Best a few years ago? Not that it matters, but the Califone album is actually titled Heron King Blues :)

Looks like you covered most of what I know about except maybe these from my wishlist that I'll probably never get since I made a new year's resolution to lay off buying any new music for an undetermined length of time (of course, if someone gets an itch to send me something, that's probably OK, right?).....

TV On The Radio - Desparate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes (Mar 9)
The Walkmen - Bows And Arrows (Feb 3)
Telefon Tel Aviv - Map Of What Is Effortless (Jan 27)
Jason Molina - Pyramid Electric Co. (Jan 20)
Moonbabies - Orange Billboard (Jan 13)

TV On The Radio is all the rage right now after their short EP last year and they'll probably release the new LP sooner since it's now apparently already been leaked to everyone on the web except me :(

Did Jimbo ever turn you on to the Moonbabies? Very cool Swedish band. This will be their second LP and is supposed to be a good one. I really liked the first one, June and Novas. http://www.parasol.com/labels/hiddenagenda/aha059.asp

Bjork's Lake Album sometime before summer, or so the story goes. PJ Harvey sometime? Built To Spill sometime?

Available in-stores February 24th, 2004. Available at live shows starting February 13th. As a thanks to ALL the web fans out there, dadatheband.com will be offering up a pre-sale of the CD, that will ship beginning January 23rd (4 weeks prior to stores). The CD pre-sale is now open. Visit the the store for details & tracklist!

There's also a live disc. I ordered one, and it's scratched so I'm sending it back. It's pretty dry, from what tracks I heard.

Dang, didn't even know that this had been released. I just ordered it though, so thanks for the info. If anyone else thinks they may be interested in the band there is a 192 bit rate mp3 from the new album on the moonbabies site-http://www.moonbabies.nu/audio/audio.htm

I'm not sure what, if anything, I did for Stone in regards to the Moonbabies. I comped a track that got zero response from the board so I may not have pushed it any farther than that. Just how many Stephen Delopoulous' do we need around here anyway?!?

Hehehe, well you just never know what might tickle people's fancy. For anyone that may not remember (and that is probably everybody except Jimbo :-)), the title track of the June and Novas album was on Current Rotation Sampler numero seis, courtesy of the same Jimbo. As always, you can see the group comps at http://members.mailaka.net/davey/raverecscomps.html (at least the ones that I have bothered to list, but any others that warrant inclusion could be emailed to me for consideration :-)).

I was just listening to the June and Novas CD recently and it is an awfully good album. Funny how a band like Broken Social Scene gets tons of ink spilled yet a similar album that predates it by a different band gets hardly any. You gotta have the buzz if you wanna get anywhere today. Hope you post a few words after listening to the new one, cause at least I'll be interested :)

Got some Do Make Say Think playing this morning courtesy of a girl from the north country. Nice music (and a nice girl).

I don't know, but supposedly they have at least one member of DCfC in the group.

Yeah, I haven't heard it either, but if it's half as good as the EP, it'll be effin' great. Do you have the EP?

Telefon Tel Aviv - Map Of What Is Effortless (Jan 27)

This one looks very interesting to me, from what I've read (which isn't a whole lot). I haven't heard the first one though. Do you have it? What do you think of it? RIYL ____?

Not that I'm aware of. :) I know I don't have the full length, but I'll have to check to see if I have any of their songs on any comps. I remember the discussions you and JC had about them. They're probably someone I should check out, especiallly given the descriptions and comparisons I've heard about them.

I don't have either, although I have heard some from TV On The Radio. Looks like another big year for NYC bands. CMJ listed Notwist, Prefuse 73 and Dntel as RIYL for the new TELEFON TEL AVIV at http://www.cmj.com/articles/display_article.php?id=545434

Hello Mr. Intruder,

You must be new around here. Seems like you have pretty good taste in music! Do you like blondes? Uhh... greyish-blondes? :p (Ooh frozen smilies!)

Anyway, what all do yall have in Notwist flavour? Anything I should pick up before I see em in concert next month?

TIA, Snowie

Trust me, that Intruder guy is like so nowheresville. Don't waste your time.

So how ya been? The Notwist is pretty cool, but I can think of a thing or two to warm up that frozen smiley. Trust me.

But to put all seriousness aside, that Chalky guy probably has the inside track on the autobahn when it comes to our German buddies. I only have Neon Golden, and not even the USAmerican version with the 3 bonusongs that they didn't see fit to include on the UK release. They have a remix EP coming out soon but I don't see it in my future. Or maybe it was already out. Not sure what Stoney listed as I thought that was already out. Did you get a ticket for me? That would be big fun. I haven't seem em yet but Dusty did a great review awhile back that sure makes me want to. Let us know how close to orgasmic it gets :)

PS: Have you seen that I added a bunch of backpacking pictures on my webpage? Kinda fun. Lots of memories in them there mountains :)

Hi Davey!

Hey, you know we'll never get those newbies to post if you keep buttin' in like that! ;)

I'm amazed that there are so few people who actually participate on this message board. I mean, there are millions of Americans out there, and a few thousands Canucks, and we can only temp a couple hundred of them to visit this little space on the web? I guess us geeks are really rare!

Sorry I took so long to reply to this post. I sent my little laptop in for a new keyboard and my only access to the web is at work. Could be another week or so until I'm up and running again. And I'm kind of enjoying the break...

Yeah, The Notwist are playing at Richards, and this time its not an early show. I think the good, church-going boys in Guster must have needed to be in by curfew, cause early shows are not the norm for the club. :)

I'll check with the Dusty One for his take on new releases, and for that matter Zulu Records may be able to get me a copy of something before I see them live. Then again, it might be kinda cool to hear new songs for the first time live.

Ya'll discuss music that is alien to me. I've never heard of any of those bands.

I guess that is what happens when you live under a rock, huh?
