Mostly, I use...

www.scratchrecords.com
Good vinyl source. In Canada, so may be good for our nothern friends, and saves money on the exchange for us in the USA. Cheap, quick shipping. Only downside is they don't seem to update their online catalog when they run out of stuff, so you have to place an order, wait acouple days, and find out what they have in stock before you can things going

www.insound.com
Good source for indie stuff. A little expensive on many things, but pretty good stock, fast shipping, and an updated site.

www.amazon.com
Not the cheapest, but I've used them for a long time and they are quick and relieable. As long as it's in-print and not on a really obscure label, they've got it if you want it on CD.

www.ebay.com
I used to be an Ebay junky, but haven't been there in a while. Still, you can find almost anything over there if you look long enough.

Although, sometimes if I'm looking for something specific that I can't find, I'll just search the title in google. I've run across a few things I was loking for at really low prices on little, non-advertised sites that way, individuals cleaning out a collection and that kind of thing.

Really, I've quit buying online for quite some time. Wife and I made a deal on online purchases; no records for me, no shoes for her. But, I'm probably gonna have to break that deal soon. Too many things that I just don't run into locally, that are so easy to pick up online.

I used to buy from DiscountCD.com (and DiscountDVD.com) for their no S&H costs. But lately I've been looking for things on eBay and Amazon. The greatest success I get is to find it on Amazon, then click on the Used link. Hundreds of small shops are selling through this method, and I've had good sucess in chopping off a few bucks. So far, the sellers have all been prompt and reputable.

I also have to admit that I abuse CMH and BMG every year or two to stock up with a dozen or so freebies by rejoining. Fullfilling the BMG obligation is easy, but I'm staring at the need to buy 4 more at CMH in a year or so...

I have used ebay 40 times with only 1 "bad" experience.

I like such weird music it's almost impossible to find it in stores.

I visit InsideOut, Pendragon USA, Lasers Edge, and others.

I mostly use:

Amazon.com
awarestore.com
homegrownmusic.net

Aware and Homegrown i mostly use to find artists and amazon is usually better at getting those artists cheaply.

For used CeeDees I use

www.half.com

(it will automatically switch over to the new URL that went into effect after E--bay bought them). I've never been ripped off, a couple of slow shipping issues, but for the 100 or so used CDs I've bought there, thats not a problem. Plus, its an easy way to get a lot of positive feedbacks for E-bay.

For Lps, I've used LP Now, but I've bought all the cheap stuff I want that they carry. Their flat rate shipping cannot be beat. $6 for as many LPs as you order.

Insound has been a good source for LPs, got Yoshimi for $11.99 a year ago. Their prices aren't the best, but every now and then, there's a good buy. Their descriptions of the type music on an album seems to be right on. I've bought several groups I haven't heard of based on their descriptions. Got turned on to Lois Maffeo that way.

For all that is prog I use The Lasers Edge. Nice descriptions with pictures of the album. Good prices too considering most of what they are selling are imports.

www.lasercd.com

For used CD's and htf oop stuff I use eBay. Probably a couple of hundred times now to date. Bought lots of Mofi and DCC stuff not to mention some Tull stuff.

Barnes and Noble. www.bn.com. Wife bought me a membership plus they have free shipping on orders over $25. Without those two things, their prices can be high also.

CD Universe. www.cduniverse.com

Amazon.com only as a last resort as their prices are the highest of all the online stores I've visited.

Best ones for me in the UK are Play.com and CDWow.com, who both ship for free. But I've read somewhere CDWow are being prosecuted at the moment for shipping from Hong Kong to Europe. I use Amazon but only for sound samples they are way too expensive when they include shipping charges.

For second hand CD's I use SecondSpin.com (last time I checked Half.com didn't ship to the UK) and I can't be bothered with E-bay.

SecondSpin don't have a great choice but you can build up a favourites list and I just look in now and then. The best thing is the current exchange rate means not only are they cheap but also I don't go over the stupid out-dated import tax limit, and they ship without CD cases so shipping is cheap. Used them lots of times and never any problems.

Cheers

fpDeep Discount CD, Half.com (eBay affiliate), CD Universe, and Cheap CDs (though I think they might have gone nipples up since the last time I bought from 'em). I still occasionally get stuff through Columbia House too (box sets and 3-for-1 deals).

I like the shopping experience at tower.com because they usually provide more than just 4 or 5 song/audio links for a disc.

Amazon.com and my local Music Shack (at least until they moved to the suburbs). I rarely buy new these days. Used is sooooo much cheaper.
