Hi, welcome to AR.

Between the two you have suggested, I would go for the Denon.

There are many other manufacturers that make good receivers as well. The short list is:

Denon
Yamaha
Onkyo
Pioneer (they are making good bang for the buck receivers now)
Harmon Kardon
Maritz

The list goes on. I'm sure others will fill in the ones I forgot.

I'm partial to Yamaha but all of the above make good products. Here is just one of Yamaha's lines.

I want to go only with High end versions if it is Pioneer I would only go for Elite version such as D1S used to be High end. but from those two I wanted to go for the best.
Budget I dont want to go over $2K
Thanx

$2k? With that budget you may want to go with separates. You can get a very nice controller at 1k+ and thet would leave you enough to get sepatate amps. Try Outlaw and Adcom. You can get used amps cheap. They usually don't go bad for a long time. And then when you want to upgrade, you can just change the controller and keep the amps.

What kind of speakers are you driving?

Can you explain a bit more on that?
I wanted to go with quality stuff but.
I live in montreal and 2K canadian.
but the real problem is that we only have Futureshop(Best buy here )
not a lot of variety :(
I saw this http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/receivers/RXV2600.htm yamaha seems nice
can you tell me about separate setup?
and what do you think of the DENON I chose in the beginning?
Front Speakers 2xOmage Genesis 130WATT
Front 6WATT Prolinear
Back 2x 60 WATT Prolinear

OK, it looks like 2000 CANADIAN DOLLAR (CAD) = 1717.2541 US DOLLAR (USD) per Bloomberg.com. Not sure how real that number is or if your market is different for one brand or another. In your order, that Yamaha RX-V2600 is on my wish list. I wish it had come out last year. It has HDMI connections and I really like this part, High Picture Quality Fully Analog Video Up-Conversion to HDMI and Component Video
Output with TBC
De-Interlacing (480i to 480p)
Up-Scaling (480i to 1080i/720p)
Wide-Range Video Bandwidth (100MHz -3 dB)

The Denon is last year's model and most likely doesn't have the HDMI. The 3806 probably does, but for more money.

Separates have the best overall sound quallity but can cost more. Depends on your budget. Here is a link to one of the less expensive brands (outlaw). But even a cheaper seperate will usually sound better than a receiver. Maybe not by much, but some. This company also makes receivers as well. Check them out. http://outlawaudio.com/products/index.html

Still, I want the Yammie 2600. The upscaling from 480i to 720p would be great for me because the projector I want doesn't do a good job of this per reviews. I also like the extra front pressents speaker outputs that only Yamaha seems to be doing at this price. They come in handy for watching sports.

At that price point I would definately go with a unit that supports HDMI. As GM brought out, Denon, Onkyo, Pioneer Elite and Yamaha all make units that support HDMI. Not sure about HK or Marantz. Narrow down a few units based on your needs and give them a home test. Take advantage of that 30 return policy.

Recommend these two. The Denon can be had for cheaper than the Yamaha (right now), but don't base your choice on that alone.
