Well, we'll see what we can do with this Chestnut. Hopefully we won't all go into "sugar shock" from the discussion. Let a fellah know.

you'll shoot your eye out! How could you forget A Christmas Story!!!!!! hands down best holiday movie ever!! imo. but i voted for frosty the snowman in its place as my nastalgia kicks in and remember sipping hot cocoa and staying warm as snow piled up outside the windows.

I voted for A Christmas Carol. You gotta love Scrooge. A penny pinching miser who see's the error of his ways just in time for X-mas. And ghosts, cool ghosts.

There's just something primitively evil and dark about that Rudolph claymation flick...The threat of death, the evil monster, the Island of Misfit toys...the anger of being a castout...hell, it's a bit creepy...can't-stop-watching creepy. Made back in the day when writers didn't pull their punches too!

On a side note...what in the blue hell is with all the references to PURPLE cats in peoples' signatures these days?

HAHAHAHA It's a long story. But if you don't mind reading incredably, mind numbing, stupid threads, here it is.

Tried to warn you. But back on topic.

Which version of the Christmas Carol are we voting on here? The original, the remake, the remake of the remake with Captain Pikard, he one with Daffy Duck? How many did I leave out?

I'm still losing sleep over that thread!

I gotta go with A Christmas Story, although it's not listed.

Yes, I suggest the following pop-up warning for other innocent surfers such as ourselves:

[clears throat] Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo,
"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man."
Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo,
"It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity."
Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo,
"It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge."
Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo,
"This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone."
Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo, Do dee doo doo, ....

What you guys missed on this thread were a few PM's Flo & I had going back & forth. They went something like this:

Flo - I can't help this guy. (edited)
Me - Come on, he's not that bad.
Flo - OK, but I don't think it will help
Me - OK, you were right. Nevermind.

Worfster, I luv ya man, but the lack of A Christmas Story in the poll is an oversight worthy of a flogging by 100 wet noodles. I double dog dare ya to find a better family Christmas movie. In light of its glaring absence, I'm voting for Charlie Brown. Great music and Linus' speech is one of the best out there.

Not only watchable on holidays, but it is funny year around :)

The original Miracle on 34th Street received my vote. The story overcame cynicism. The lead couple fell in love. Santa was proven to exist. It all ended happily. I need more happy endings.

Okay, okay..... how could I forget my "Trusty Red Ryder Air Rifle"? I love that flick, I blew it I screwed up. Throw me in the dungeon with Scott Farcas and the other green teethed toadies. Stick my tongue to the flag pole. Destroy my "valuable free prize". Arrrgh... I am sooo ashamed at this oversight. There's 4 flicks I'd a moved off the list for "A Christmas Story". Arrrrgh... (whip)... argggh (flog)..... moan (spindle) .... whimper (mutilate).....

Bring out the whips, chains and shackles. Here ye' here ye'. We are gathered today to begin the trial for the once highly respected Worfster. All petitions will be heard in order. Submit you grievances to the town clerk. Proceedings will begin shortly.

No lie. That is how I first saw it, blew me completely away. The DVD without 3D is also really good, but the 3D is the icing on the cake. I am going to post a review this disc in the next day or two.

I keep telling my friends that this isn't just a movie, its an experience.

when the ticket is flying around and the kid is trying to grab it, i seriously caught myself twice actually starting to reach out to grab for the ticket, especially when it flew out the window and got caught in the draft of wind along the side of the train, i was just about to reach forward out of my seat and grab for it!
it has just been re-released on the imax in 3d again and am defn going to watch it once more!

My wow moment in 3D was in the opening when the snow was falling. It looked like it was falling in the theater itself. Me head started getting cold it looked so real. I am going to see it again tomorrow.

Now you guys have me searching the web for the nearest IMAX in my area. I only saw one IMAX movie so far. I kinda felt woozie at first but felt fine after I got into the movie. But that was down in Rockland county, about 45 minutes to an hour from here. I don't know if we have any in this area.

It's okay, nobody really blames you....JUST DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!! NO WAY !!!!! don't let him off so easy, this is twice I seen him slip up. First he suggested that Dr. Bashur from DS9 would make a good James Bond, Yuk that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Then this SNAFU, Worf you have one more time and we will pull your HT card. May have to fly from Cali and pimp slap him right again lol

remember Worf its all in love:p

I voted for Charlie Brown. It seems to have the most well grounded message and relevance, given how so many of the holiday images and fables have gotten commercialized. Plus, the Vince Guaraldi soundtrack is a classic.

A couple of others that I would also vote for inclusion on the list are Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and The Year Without A Santa Claus. Love that stop motion animation, and The Year Without A Santa Claus has those brilliant musical numbers featuring the Heat Miser and the Snow Miser. And yes, I can hear you all humming those tunes as you read this!

He's Mr. White Christmas
He's Mr. Snow
He's Mr. Icicle
He's Mr. Ten-Below

Okay, repeat after moi....

"Dogpile on da Worfster... Dogpile on da Worfster.... Dogpile on da Worfster"
(bonus points for whoever gets this reference).

You're killing me... after all I'm jest a lonely Klingon lookin for a little blood wine and heavy breathin... Jeeze Louise I ain't even from THIS PLANET!! And ahem my good friend and rival Dr. Julian Bahir would make a "passible" Bond. Certainly no worse than Roger "pussypants" Moore if you ask me. But enough of that. When will my penance be paid? When will this vail of toil be lifted? When will I start a new poll to get the heat off me....

Much love Recov....

Does The Nightmare Before Christmas count as a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie? It's one of my all-time favourite movies, either way.

Other Christmas favourites not on Worf's list are A Christmas Story (I love the look on the mother's face when that hideous lamp breaks :D ), Elf and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

If I have to pick one on the list it would be Trains, Planes and Automobiles.

Hmmmm. It looks like I have a soft spot for the Holiday Comedies. I never realized that before.

There was a fantastic XMAS episode of the TWILIGHT ZONE. It was called THE NIGHT OF THE MEEK with the late ART CARNEY. It was one of the few episodes that Serling did on videotape which had just come into existence in the 1960s.
