I'll be listening to Jazz/ Reggae/Blues/Zydeco/R&B/ Chicago, Santanna, Steely Dan/ Donald ***en ,Tower of Power, Frank Zappa
I'll be listening in 2 channel mode

I don't know about refurbushed speakers (as the term is usually associated with electronics), but you can find many quality used speakers at http://www.audiogon.com .

Quite frankly, with that budget, your choices are going to be quite limited... Maybe some Norh 3.0s that go for about $150/pr. new, or maybe some PSB Alphas, Definitive Tech ProCinema 100s or the like.

Dave,
Thanks for your recommendation; I'm presently using the speakers from a portable component system, so I'm sure what you recommended will be a move up compared to what I'm using now. They are constructed out of plastic.
Refurbished speakers are new speakers that failed final testing and repaired to orignal specs, but cannot be sold as new speakers, same as remanufactured.
I got my Sub in Oct. and I ordered my Denon Nov. 25, so I'll wait for after Xmas Sales.

That's not much of a budget for speakers, but it's workable. I'd say your best bet is right here:

I don't think you'll beat that.

Thanks for the recommendations; This is my first purchase of mid - high range audio electronics. I will crawl a little and learn more about this phase of purchasing mid - High audio electronics. My budget has restrictions.

Here are the 3 finalist
1. Polk Audio R-15

2.Athena AS-B1

3. Cambridge Soundworks

After searching Google and reading various audio forums I have 3 solid choices. I'll have to choose based on my listening preference.

Thanks for your time in helping this " Newbie"
