searching for a mount to hold a 10lbs bookshelf. Both will be mounted against a stud. The 8lb mounts seem reasonable, but above that they get expensive. Any recommendations or DIY projects to be had?
Thanks....

I don't know what expensive is to you but this link has been well reported about for price and reliability.

Hey Tarheel

Parts Express sells an assortment of wall mount brackets. Go to the PE home page http://www.partsexpress.com/index.cfm?did=7.

On the top left, in the Quick Search box, type in: Speaker wall mount bracket and click on the Go button.

FWIW, I used the Vogel's VLB50 to mount some NHT SuperOne XU speakers. They were supplied by NHT with the speakers which weigh about 8 lbs. PE says these brackets can easily hold 11 lbs. PE's picture shows them upsidedown.

From the two links above I recommend Sanus WMSb2 and Vogel VLB 200 as any reasonable bookshelf speaker size can be fit on the bracket and you don't need to screw anything on the back of the speaker.
