Haven't seen all of Fords movies, but the ones I have seen, these might be the best.

The Quiet Man - just reviewed it earlier. great movie. i've got stagecoach on deck to watch this week, but am sure that is just as deserving to be on the list. Ford is the man!

LOL, Smoke you ole polecat.

John Ford Faves.

1. "Fort Apache" - Ford does Custer with a twist the first of his Cavalry Trilogy.

2. "The Quet Man" - Ireland as we can only dream it was.

3. "The Last Hurrah" - The birth of the television candidate and the death of the political machine.

4. "Mister Roberts" - The greatest bloodless war movie ever made.

5. "Rio Grande" - The last of Fords "Cavalry Trilogy" great in Black and White.

6. "They Were Expendable" - One of the best WWII movies ever made. Great Ford Ensemble cast.

7. "How Green Was My Valley" - Oscar Winner about Welsch Cole Miners and their changing world.

8. "The Grapes of Wrath" - Ford does Steinbeck, does it get any better than this?

9. "The Informer" - Victor McLaglen wins an Oscor in the first of Ford's films covering the struggle for Irish independence.

Thanks guys for added list.

Ford's film definitely got a style of its own. Great wide cinematic shots of scenery, distinct music background and alot of closeup facial expressions without spoken words.
