I am interest in a Apogee Caliper, but I am concerned about its durability especially opf the bass ribbon, Are they fragile or very durable? Can the ribbons take light abuse? or are they strictly don't touch?

Thanks in advance.

Apogees are very durable indeed. The bass ribbon is aluminium foil backed by kapton and very rigid. You can touch it, no problem but it is not recommended of course ;-)
The Midrange/Tweeter ribbon is only suspended at the top and bottom and swings freely so it is important that you dont touch them or shock them (like dropping) otherwise they will rupture. New ribbons, repairs are all avaliable in the US and not expensive at all. If you sent me a link to some pictures i can tell you about their condition and what to look out for. Cheers, and if you set them up right you will expereice what music is all about

PS: There are grills infront of them. They are a special fiberglass mesh so dont worry about damaging the ribbons.
