I wonder if it has any connection to the Sinclair I knew back in the 70's. I had their Z50 amplifier modules in my power amplifier.

3DB, I've got a pair of Sinclair Brighton SBT-3600s, and personally I love them. I've listened to many, many speakers, and for what I paid for my Brightons ($450), I think they're fantastic. Granted, my setup may enhance them somewhat (Yamaha RXV-2500 w/ Merlin Black Widow power cord, AudioQuest Bedrock cables), but even at the store, hooked up to a craptacular low-end Sony receiver and generic speaker wire, they sounded pretty damn sweet. Max power handling on them is 250w, 3 x 6" drivers, 1" silk dome tweeter, 92db efficiency... trust me, they go LOUD, and even at the highest volumes of my Yamaha, there was zero distortion. I think they sound wonderful.

Some might disagree with me, but ultimately it's whatever sounds good to you that counts, and I like my Sinclairs. If you want to read a review on them, just follow this link:

Where did you buy the Sinclair Brighton SBT-3600s fro $450? I have a pair of Athena Technologies AS-F2.2 that have very similiar specifications to the Sinclair Brighton SBT-3600 but they retail for $800 Canadian. I would be interested in hearing these Sinclair Audio speakers to compare. Thanks, Scott

Hey we sell Brightons and have them hooked up on a cheap Sony amp with generic speaker wire. Where did you get them?

As for overall quality- they are not the world's best speaker, they are designed to be a good speaker for the money and on that standard they perform well.
They sound better than the likes of Infinity Betas to my ear.

I got my Sinclairs (SB-3600Ts) at a place in Toronto called TeleCity Electronics, I picked them up for $450 because they were trying to promote them when they first hit the scene.

I agree they're not up there with elite speaker brands, but as you say, for their price point, they're hard to go wrong with. I've auditioned many a speaker, from low price tags all the way up to ones that you'd have to take a second mortgage on, and I found that for $450, the Sinclairs are a sweet buy.

A little late to the thread but just letting others know what I think of these speakers. I would think that Audio Dude may be thinking of the Sculpatura series which were lifestyle speakers that were made for modern "flat panel" rooms. I would agree that they are more show than go.

The Brighton series, on the other hand, seem to have been cut from a different cloth to my ears. They are an unassuming line but still very attractive with the black laquer fronts and the very bright fibreglass woofers. Mounds of internal bracing, real aluminum phase plugs and non-metallic poly foil tweeters kinda says to me that their was a good deal of money put into construction costs. For my lineup (3600 towers, SB160 for surrounds and the 250 center with the SW1000 sub) ,if I were to give their first quality, I would say bright.....but not fatiguing like say some of the Klipsch line (Apologies to the Klipsch lovers, I just find they zing a bit too much up high) and bass depth is good not great but very fast and punchy.

The mids is where I would say the weaker aspect of this system is, its there but just not upfront enough, and this could be the fault of the very full and dynamic highs. Matching the system with the sub gives a better balance and keeps the bottom end filled. The SW1000 is an musical little sub that does nothing spectacular but nothing really poorly either. The center channel has very good timbre and the dialog is clear and concise. The bookshelves that I use for surrounds are nice little monitors that cover their range well (I have them crossed over at 60Hz.)

Overall I would favourably compare these speakers to the Monitor line from Paradigm (The Monitors have better mids but very soft highs in comparasion) and the Omni line from Mirage (A bit of an apple/orange comparasion because of the omnipolar design of the Mirage speakers but I found them to sound similar) I would say with their value as a factor, they are an 8.5 out of 10 for music and a 9.5 out of 10 for HT. Cost no object would reduce both by about 2 points a side. Thanks for this thread.

Shane

PS: I was fortunate to get the entire series for 50% off (Case of no one knowing what Sincalir Audio was) so I was out the door for about a grand Canadian.

I found the same thing with paradigms monitor series and the series below them. Strident highs and the bass seemed a lil sloppy. Didn't have the cash nor the time to audition their studio series. That is why I went with PSB Image series .

Yep, I'm East Coast Canada lol. Prince Edward Island here. My original choice for my HT setup was the Paradigm Studio 60s with a CC470 center and ADP470 surrounds. My sub was going to be an SVS PC-Plus 20-39. That setup would have been close to $4000 when its allsaid and done. So for $1000 I think it was a good compromise ...for now....hehehe. My wife LOVES the look of the Paradigm Signatures so to have her on my side for anything A/V is a good thing :o) Cheers!
