troubleshooting receiver

have some hi frequency static on my left speaker; I've swapped the cables and yes, now the right speaker has the problem. So I swapped cables from the "A" speaker input to "B" input...same thing.

I figure I've got a receiver issue with the left side. Is it worth trying to fix a 20 year old Onkyo 55W receiver or just go for new? I
