Who the heck is Ms. Clue?
Good question. I don't know the answer. But I'll bet that she kills Michael in the Dining Room with the Candlestick...or is that with the butt of a rifle. :yikes:
So many ideas going through my head about the boat. Is it a coincidence that Michael asked for a boat then, suddenly, one begins to float towards the island?
As for finding out why the plane crashed...I'm sure that whatever is revealed, it won't answer your questions...it'll only raise more. :ihih:
Kam, I don't understand what you're saying about people being blackmailed to take the 9 tailies from their camp. Don't you think that was The Others kidnapping them? For some reason The Others don't want to just take the Fusies. Maybe they feel that the Fusies are too organized now, there's too many of them and they'll fight back harder than the Tailies were able to. Besides, the Fusies are armed. The Tailies weren't. And, according to Goodwin, the Tailies were taken because they were "good". We know that the four Fusies that The Others are after are no saints. So, what do they want with our four lead characters? I'll bet that after next week, we still won't know the answer to that one.
And, Charlie took the serum. That is going to have significance at some point, I'm sure.
Did you catch the new web site listed on the Hanso Commercial? www.letyourcompassguideyou.com. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.
i checked on the site, and apparently its a big jeep marketing promo. the compass site (which has latin in the top for let your compass guide you) takes you back to the hanso site and lets you access exec bios, and you see some emails from some execs to the hanso foundation about... that's right, a big jeep order that goes wrong and so they cancel the delivery of... that's right, the new jeep compass. so... very dissapointing, but its just a big promo tie in for the new jeep called the 'compass'.
and was just ruminating on the whole method of the Others, that their little communion over there may not be so chummy chummy and that they are more of a loose federation of people who are being blackmailed to help their cause at some point or another ala michael. just looking WAAAAY too much into things and am prolly wrong on this one, that it was just the Others sending their own peeps to kidnap the 'good' tailies, but thought it could be the Others sending in new recruits who's kids they have kidnapped to force them to kidnap the tailies.
ok so a few more observations...
did anyone think that wasn't walt's voice coming out of walt? there was defn something strange in that scene when he first walks in and it really sounds like some other kids voice lipsynced to walt.
ms. clue is spelled "klugh" and saw that she might be the woman from the flashes in the monster smoke that confronted eko, see:
Ms. Klugh:
http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimagepopup&pid=69373&fullsize=1
Eko's Woman in Monster Smoke:
http://lost.cubit.net/pics/2x10/ekoVsMonsterWoman2.jpg
and didnt ms. klugh say that they couldnt go to get FH back? was is that they wouldnt want to, the whole, here's the line not to cross, and everyone's happy thing, or that they actually CAN'T go to that side of the island? although FH is an other and he was fine over there.... ugh... more questions hehehe.
found this on the lost cubit site, someone's figured it out:

Good news for next season...
ABC Promises Uninterrupted Blocks of 'Lost'
Emmy-winning hit will make way for 'Day Break' in January
By Daniel Fienberg
May 16 2006
It's a plight that "Lost" fans know all too well -- You tune in on a Wednesday night praying for a new episode only to find a random repeat from nearly a season earlier, or else a lengthy and unexpected clip show. ABC is hoping to eliminate that experience.
Following a format somewhat resembling FOX's successful treatment of "24," ABC revealed its new fall schedule on Tuesday (May 16), vowing to dramatically reduce "Lost" repeats. The plan calls for "Lost" to begin the season in its standard Wednesday 9 p.m. ET time slot, but just when the show would typically move into a rerun cycle in the winter, ABC has an alternative up its sleeve.
"We really wanted to just say to the audience, 'Listen, it's going to be on for this block here and then we'll bring it back and it will run straight through,'" explains ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson. "So yes, the plan is that 'Lost' will come on in the fall in the first or second week of the season, run for seven episodes and then 'Day Break' will launch into that period and 'Lost' will come back in January or early February and run straight through for the remainder for the season."
That way, instead of wondering why Shannon and Boone suddenly seem to be alive again and why the castaways are still scratching their heads over the contents of the mysterious hatch, viewers can follow Taye Diggs as he relives the same day over and over again trying to avoid being framed for murder.
"I think it's the best role he's ever played," McPherson says of Diggs and his "Day Break" character. "He just explodes off the screen and really is a TV star. I think that like 'Lost,' it's a challenging area, but we really feel like in the drama world that's what we do well and we want to take those chances."
McPherson wouldn't rule out the possibility that "Lost" repeats might still air in different time periods, including the 8 p.m. hour before fresh content. He also refused to leak any information on new cast members.
"There are no new people at this point," he hedges. "All the cast are returning except the people we shot on 'Lost.'"
Although convention wisdom holds that a schedule loaded with new programming and low on repeats is an expensive schedule, McPherson urges pundits not to cry for either ABC or "Lost."
"It's an extremely profitable show for everyone," McPherson reassures the masses. "There's DVDs that'll be out, there's the dotcom, there's going to be a lot of content... The thing to keep in mind is that it won't be three-on/one-off/two-on/one-off. There will be no break in the aired episodes. Much like '24,' you will be able to come into that experience and stay with it week after week after week."
McPherson explains that it's all just part of a changing television landscape in a medium which is offering viewers more options than ever before.
"It's a more expensive schedule, but I think the audience is more demanding right now," he says. "I think that the audience has so much choice, is so sophisticated, is so demanding now that we have to work into our schedule more and more original programming and I think that giving the audience what they want is something we're charged with doing."

So the Compass site is a commercial?! I was disbelieving, thinking that there has to be more to it. The producers of Lost wouldn't use their die-hard fans in this manner would they? They don't think that we're just a bunch of mindless consumers who will fall for this kind of insulting behaviour do they? Well, apparently they do.
Go to this site. http://www.lostlinks.net/ Scroll down just a wee bit to where it says Lost Videos and click on the link that says, ABC News Exposes Hanso. I never did get on to the Sublymonal site last week, and now I'm glad that I didn't waste my time. Is anyone else as pissed off as I am over this? :incazzato:

Huh. I went back to thehansofoundation site and found a news releases from this Hugh McIntyre chap that wasn't there before. It condemns the Bad Twin release as slander. He's the PR guy and requires a password for more info. Anybody know the password or does it just take me to the Jeep commercial y'all are talking about? I have to think thehansofoundaton.org is much more than just a commercial vehicle. Remember that letter from the Joop link? That has nothing to do with marketing.
As for the episode, I thought it was interesting to portray a few of the Others are normal people, such as the gal asking about Claire and whether the baby was a boy or girl. We've all made up the Others to be the enemy, when the reality may be just a few (Ms. Klugh) are exerting iron-fisted control over their clan. BTW, that was definitely a fake beard on the guy that captured Michael. Did anybody catch the symbol on the hatch door of the Other's camp? It looked like a rectangle, but I couldn't make anything out.
Favorite line of the night: Sawyer, "At least now we get to kill someone."
I hate to say it, but I'm completely geeked about next week's finale! :D

I am no expert, but I think that the girl that was asking about Claire is the FRENCH womans daughter. She is about that age. We would need some photos of when she helped Claire escape the hospital hatch, and the girl that knocked out Micheal.
But my money is on it being the same person.
As far as the block of new episodes....NYPD Blue did the same thing for about the last 3 years. It worked, but it was a LONG hiatus between showings. I like LOST enough to return though.
it seems like its the equivalent of product placements in the movies. since they cant (at least so far) have any product placement in the show itself, the only marketing tie-ins have ot come through the web (ala the sprite tie in and now this jeep tie in). so am sure it's prolly the same content they would want to have on the hanso site, but they just changed the letters from:
'we can't deliver the cars to your site because of xyz complication'
its now
'we can't deliver the new jeep compass' coming out in summer 2006 at a dealership close to you for x amount of dollars base price to your site because of xyz complication.'

Favorite line of the night: Sawyer, "At least now we get to kill someone."
I agree. Right after that touching moment when he, sort of, calls Jack his friend. It was priceless!
Groundbeef, the girl in each of those scenes is the same person and is, as you thought, the French Woman's (Danielle) daughter Alex. I can't wait for that reunion! I wonder if Alex even knows who her mother is. Imagine, Alex has spent her entire life on the island. What would it be like for her to make her way to the real world? Could be a Lost spin-off. No? Like Crocodile Dundee or Blast From the Past. :)
Here's a few questions for your perusal...
1. There were guys with guns standing guard outside the door of The Other's hatch. Was it to keep people out or to keep whoever's inside (the children?) in?
2. Where do you think that Locke was walking off to at the end?
3. If Fake Henry's mission was to come and get Locke as he said, why isn't Locke on the list of people that Michael has to bring back?
4. Why doesn't anyone but Ecko seem to care about the button anymore? Weren't they supposed to cover the button in shifts? We know why Locke deserted, but no-one else seems to care anymore either.
So, I bought a ticket to go and see the Carl Palmer Band on May 24th. Little did I know when I bought the ticket that it was Lost Finale night!!!!! You know that I'm not going to be able to enjoy the concert. I'm going to be sitting there wondering what's happening on Lost. ARGHHH!

Oh yeah, here's a little tidbit from a realiable source. I think I mentioned once that a good friend of my Mom's has a son who's a TV writer and was hired onto Lost at the end of S1. Well, it seems that now that Alias has ended, a bunch of the Lost writers have been fired (including Mom's friend's son) and the Alias writers are replacing them.

SEASON FINALE
After discovering something odd just offshore, Jack and Sayid come up with a plan to confront "The Others" and hopefully get Walt back. Meanwhile, Eko and Locke come to blows as Locke makes a potentially cataclysmic decision regarding the "button" and the hatch, on the two-hour season finale.
1. There were guys with guns standing guard outside the door of The Other's hatch. Was it to keep people out or to keep whoever's inside (the children?) in?
Ans. keep people out, it's santa's workshop. that's the big reveal at the end. its really the north pole, hence the polar bears, the weird magnetic crap going on, etc.
2. Where do you think that Locke was walking off to at the end?
Ans. Bathroom
3. If Fake Henry's mission was to come and get Locke as he said, why isn't Locke on the list of people that Michael has to bring back?
Ans. They want the people on that list dead.
4. Why doesn't anyone but Ecko seem to care about the button anymore? Weren't they supposed to cover the button in shifts? We know why Locke deserted, but no-one else seems to care anymore either.
Ans. Give enough time and people forget about the most important things. (WMD?)

And who were those Russian dudes in the (presumably) antarctic at the end?
And where the heck are Sayid, Jin, and Sun? Betting we see them in the first 5 minutes of Season 3?
Okay...when's the DVD come out? Season1's special features were killer. Hope they have more.
And what happened to Desmond in the emergency over-ride key tunnel? (a hatch within a hatch, go figure).

could elizabeth/libby be twins? or is it just all part of libby's nuttiness that got her in the asylum with hurley?

Random thoughts follow:
Well, it sure sounded like Russian to me. My guess is they worked for Pen, she did mention that she has a lot of resources when she found Des at the stadium. The real question is when they called Pen and said they found him? How does a magnetic anomoly equate to finding Des? Moreso, now that they've found something, does Pen send the Royal Navy out there to investigate. In effect, the "explosion" was giant signal flare.
Libby can be used as a nickname for Elizabeth, no? I mean, what else could it be short for? BTW, with here giving Des her boat, now I'm even more pissed we don't get to see her real backstory.
Gotta hand it to Henry setting up the fake camp for Michael. They obviously knew the Losties would figure it out. FH is pretty smart. They should have let Sayid kill him when they had the chance.
Michael sucks...but I can't say I blame him. Truth be told, as a father I'd probably do the same thing. Weighing the life of my son against the life of people I met on a plane 2 months ago...sorry, but I gotta go with blood.
We know how the plane crashed, but how did Kelvin get there?
Des is an accomplished sailor and yet he ends up right back at the island after how many weeks at sea? If he couldn't do it, how can Michael make it heading 325? Seriously, I didn't see a lot of supplies on that boat and it can't hold that much fuel.
Four toes?!? What was that Stonehenge thingie?
Another viral marketing attempt, this time by Monster (the career one, not the cable one). Yippee.
Kelvin and his former partner painted the map. Why in invisable ink? How did they know so much, including the locations of all the hatches? How did he get there and and how long has he been there?
It is September yet? :(
BTW: ABC and Fox suck for pitting the finales of Lost and AI against each other.
unfortunately i can answer one of your questions... it'll be october 4th when the season starts up again...
kelvin's name back when he knew sayid (if it's even the same guy) was joe, and now he's called kelvin... kinda like "martin cambell" sans arms (in the swan station) and then mark with arms (in the pearl station)...
there seems to be something to this "Bad Twin" theory we now have three sets...
Kelvin/Joe
Martin/Mark
Elizabeth/Libby....

Ho-ly crap! Just finished watching my tape from last night.
As an aside...The Carl Palmer Band was excellent, but I did check my watch at about 9:55 and think, "oooh, Lost is still on...wonder what's happening?". GMichael is right, I am pathetic. :biggrin5:
So, my thoughts on the Season Finale. When Libby gave Desmond her boat, shivers went down my spine. Now we know why she had to die, from a story perspective. You can't have Desmond return in Libby's boat and have Libby be there to see it. I think it's cool how the writers made sure that they completely missed each other. Libby was on the other side of the island when we met Des at the beginning of S2. And she died before he returned. Through all the connections that we have between the Losties, there's only one instance that I can think of where they actually met face to face outside of the airport and remember. That's Jack and Desmond's meeting. All of the other 'meetings' are more indirect, like Claire and Rose going to the same psychic. Or Sawyer and Ana-Lucia's separate meetings of Jack's father.
Maybe we'll learn more about Libby's back story through the stories of other people. I remember, shortly after S2 started and I got a Newsletter from the Lost writers (speaking of which, I think my last few newsletters are lost. It's been months and months since the last one) saying that there will be some exciting changes about who is telling the stories. I wonder if they meant that we'll learn some people's stories through their connections with other people? We learned about Libby in the nuthouse through Hurley's story. And that she was married and widowed through Desmond. Maybe we'll learn how she ended up in the nuthouse through someone else (depression after the death of Hubby?). Maybe we'll start getting some back stories about The Others next season and maybe Miss Klugh...or Bea as we now know her...was her doctor. Hmmmm.
I thought that the Russian guy at the end said, "I think we found IT". Not "him". I could be wrong. I'll have to go back and watch it again.
Maybe Penelope is spying on her Dad. Maybe she doesn't have anything to do with the island but is trying to locate something that Widmore Labs is working on. Some secret collaberation with The Hanso Foundation that her father is involved in but is denying exists. Maybe she hired the Russian guys to secretly hack into her father's secret computer network and watch for strange occurances. When the hatch exploded or whatever it was that happened, it gave them information on the location of the breach. Maybe I was out too late last night and up too early this morning and my brain is sleep deprived. I am surprised that we didn't see any polar bears outside their window.
So, will Michael and Walt actually get away? Will the island draw them back? Is the boat booby-trapped? Is there a trap waiting at 325? Will Michael's concience get the better of him and he'll go back to try and rescue Jack, Sawyer and Kate? Will he run into Sayid, Jin and Sun? If so, my prediction is that Michael leaves Walt with Sun while he joins Sayid and Jin in trying to rescue the other three. Will The Others kidnap Sun when they learn that she is pregnant?
Regarding the Hanso Commercials...this time round I noticed teeny tiny print on the ad that said, "Paid for by Monster.com". So I checked my tape for last week's ad and, sure enough, there was teeny tiny print saying, "Paid for by Jeep". I'm sure that if I go back to the previous week, I'll find teeny tiny print saying, "Paid for by Sprite". I am so done with those Ads.
Fake Henry rocks! Still the best actor on the show. But we still don't know his real name or who he is, exactly. I still have to wonder, if he were really the head Other, would he have been wandering around the island where he could get caught in a net? Russo's traps seem to require some sort of action to trigger them off. The Others wouldn't fall for them. I think that he got caught on purpose so that he could gather information on the Losties. He wasn't counting on them digging up the grave of "his wife" and finding out that he was lying. The head of any tribe wouldn't put himself at risk in that way. He would send a trusted guard or advisor. I think that FH may be high up on the totem pole, but I still don't believe that he's the top dog.
BTW Kam. I like your Bad Twin theory.

Oh yeah, I have to comment on the Dickens book title, "Our Mutual Friend". Given all the connections between characters, I thought that was pretty clever.
yeah i'm pretty sure he said "IT" and not "him" as well.
now for a new theory (addendum to my hurley 'unleashing pandora's box theory') spawning out of the libby/lizzy issue (it's got tons of holes i know, but eh, why the hell not, we got 5 months to wait till season 3....)
What we know/dont know from what we've seen about libby/lizzy:
With the tailies? yes.
Why in Aussie? Don't know.
In the nuthouse with hurley? yes.
Crazy? don't know.
Met desmond? yes.
Husband really dead? don't know.
Could libby/lizzy be a widmore mole? she did mention her husbands name was "David" the same name as hurley's imaginary friend in the nuthouse.... so here's the theory...
Widmore/Hanso knows about the island and its almost like a DBT where they need to keep whatever is going on in there pure (ala quarantines etc). The guy in the nuthouse (did we ever get his name? and what was kelvin's partners name? its not this guy is it? even though kelvin said he killed himself?) 'escaped' from the island. he somehow had the information and yet managed to leave (did he take the 3-25 quardinates as michael might?). widmore/hanso knows that this guy has left with the island's "Secret" aka the numbers. So they send someone to keep track of this guy - libby. libby watches this guy interact with hurley and so keeps her eye on hurley. hurley uses the numbers to win the lottery, unleashes pandora's box.... etc.
Now why is libby a widmore mole? Who the heck offers a complete stranger the boat their husband, who just passed away a month ago, named after them???? widmore knew kelvin was going to try and win that race, and knew he didnt have any money to do it... enter the deus ex machina for demsond in the form of lizzy. maybe that boat had an off compass or something that was meant to bring it to the island (unlike the other crafts which the island brought to it), des may be the one "X" factor on the island that has thrown everything out of whack:
He kills kelvin.
He breaks quarantine.
He crashes flight 815.
what widmore didnt know was the strength of the love his daughter had for kelvin, even if he believed kelvin would run, i dont think he'd count on his daughter to follow and use her portion of the vast widmore wealth. she might not even be looking for desmond, but instead knows her dad's the reason that's come between them, and so may think that desmond is lost BUT she can at least find out what her daddy's been upto with the whereabouts of this secret island...

Wow, what a show.
I really enjoyed seeing how the various parts got put together. With Charlie living, I have a feeling that at least Ecko and Locke have survived. It is unlikely that he would have far enough away on foot to escape any type of serious explosion. And his lack of understanding what Claire was asking sort of bears that out.
I am less inclined to belive that Ecko would have survived the first blast w/dynamite.
I have a feeling that we are not done w/Micheal. I agree that somehow he will pair up w/Syiad. However, I doubt he would ever be able to join back w/tribe.
The look on Locke's face was priceless as he realized what an a**hole he was to have broken the computer. "I was wrong"
I also liked the horrible pun when Ecko asked Charlie if he "knew where the other entrance to the hatch is" and Charlie as he is playing his guitar said "no, but maybe if you hum few bars".
Wonder what was in those darts that they shot the 4 with. They did seem to writhe a bit as they went down. Not sure if that is standard w/traqulizer darts. Any vets out there?
As in animal MD, not service members.

According to Des when they found him, backtracking his course and speed that would put the position of the island just north-west of Pitcairn Island. And we know what happened there. Also a few hundred miles from Easter Island.

This evening, I was talking to a friend who doesn't watch lost. She asked me what Lost was about and I said, "Well, it used to be about a group of people who survived a plane crash, but I'm not sure that's an accurate description anymore".
I was just reading an article on the internet and came across this quote...
'If you think you're still watching a show about people who crashed on an island, you're watching another show.' There's a lot going on, and as we move forward, ... we're getting deeper into the center of the onion."
Here's the full article. It's about S3 and pretty interesting. No spoilers so don't worry...

Edit: Just found another great article on the best and worst moments of Lost. When you're finished click on the related story link for "Answers We'd Like To Find in the Finale".
What are your own best and worst moments? A few of mine are...
Best
Locke: We're going to have to watch that again.
Charlie: Are you going to hit me with your Jesus stick?
Sawyer reading Are You There God, It's Me Margaret
Worst
Hurley hiding food. C'mon, did he think that no-one would ever find out?
Kate and Jack's kiss. Boooooo. Kate and Sawyer make a way more interesting team.
Sayid and Shannon hooking up. She wouldn't give him the time of day in the real world. I'm surprised that he would fall for someone so shallow.
I know I have more, but I'm tired. Good night.

My favorite quote was "you and me ain't done, zeke" by Sawyer...
and Henry's "Him??? He's NOTHING"
don't know why...just left lasting impressions.
Henry is a great character-the actor that plays him is PERFECT.
Locke gets my nod for best actor on the show. Then Sawyer.
Worst Actor: Anna Lucia. She was terrible, IMO. Loved the character, hated the execution. At least Shannon was a believable prima-donna. The tough tortured girl thing just came across as too phony to me.
Don't really have a favorite episode, they all fit together too much for me, it'd be like asking what was the best chapter in a book?
The best conflict was Jack and Locke. Charlie's little spat with Locke was old news.

The best conflict was Jack and Locke. Charlie's little spat with Locke was old news.
That was my favourite conflict too. Ana-Lucia put it best when she said, "Jack and Locke are too busy worrying about Locke and Jack".
Another great line that Kam reminded me of...Sawyer standing up tall and saying, "there's a new Sheriff in town". Too bad that never really went anywhere. There was some great opportunity for really good Jack/Sawyer conflict, and for Charlie to actually become interesting by turning evil. But it really never went anywhere. At the end of the day, Sawyer had no sizzle and Jack got what he wanted (no sizzle doesn't mean that he's not hot, though. :wink5: )
Favourite back story: Jin and Sun. I just love how they showed Sun's side and made Jin look like a real *******. Then they show Jin's side and...total paradigm shift...Jin is a great guy just trying to do the best he can, in a bad situation, for the woman he loves.
Best "holy shiit" moment: A tie. Finding out that Sayid dug up the body of Henry's wife, only to find the real Henry Gale. And, of course, Michael shooting AL, Libby and himself.
Best "what the hell" moment: The black light map.
Best/Worst Actor: Agree with Kex here. Henry for the best. AL for the worst.
Best/Worst Character: Henry for the best. Charlie for the worst. Charlie's a bit of a wuss for a rock star. At least he was interesting when he was addicted to heroin. Now he's just a big bore.
Question that I most want the answer to: How did Locke end up in the wheelchair. C'mon it's been TWO years! Tell me already!!! :incazzato:
Things I'm looking forward to in S3 (or later): Seeing more of Fake-Henry. Learning more about The Others (it looks they have some issues of their own). Assuming Locke is alive (and I think he is), will he still be able to walk now that the magnet is, presumably, blowed up real good. The reunion of Alex and Danielle.

Did the magnet thingy get blowed up real good, or was Desmond's key just the master shut down device for the Dharma station? I'm guessing that magnetic energy stuff is still part of the island, and the station was just a way of discharging it, so if the station is toast the energy remains behind?
It'd make for an awefully boring Locke if he had to crawl around everywhere.

...Was there an explosion? An implosion? What do magnets do when they build up a field that needs to be bled-off? Actually, I don't think a natural source of magnetism would do that...it's just sort of there, in stasis...but I'll suspend my belief for the sake of argument.
While a hatch did come a-tumblin' down from on high, I don't think it was from an explosion...I mean we didn't hear one did we?...only a noise that would probably pin our Ratshack SPL meters...Was it sorta' like an MRI going into overload? Rapid polarity switching of a magnetic field could cause metal to take wing...I think it's the operating principle of Mag-lev technology...so if Eko and Locke were far enough away from potential shrapnel and there doesn't seem to have been a ka-boom in the Alfred Nobel school of ka-booms, might they still be alive...Locke has sorta' been a valuable enigma in the plot lines all along and now Eko is falling into that category, so unless there's more pertinent backstories or some spectral visitation in the works, why would the producers lose them?
And as far as Desmond and the boat that goes nowhere...this may be a DUH! moment...magnets ring a bell? if he didn't have GPS and relied only on a compass heading that may be why he's back from whence he came...And not knowing what was happnin' back at the shack (the not-so-silent, ka-boom-less event), tellin' Michael and Walt to keep to a specific bearing may have just been a cruel joke...Hey, we kept our bargain, you got your son AND your boat, but golly gee welcome back...consider yourselves rescued...all bets are off, time to re-negotiate...we want the boy...now of course there may be an unforseen fly in the ointment.
Also, if the hatch is now off-line at nut-case central (somewhere) will there be some sort of investigation by the ballon-launchers?
Four toes? Is Homer Simpson actually God? Maybe Fred Flintstone...Did someone say Eric Von Daniken?

I think you're right. No firey explosion of the ka-boom kind that would kill Locke and Eko. I think that they're alive and well. There's too much good conflict between Eko's faith and Locke's lost faith to just let it go like that. I would be very disappointed if the conflict was ended in that way. It's too easy.
Besides, we still need to see Locke's back story of how he landed in that wheelchair!!!

I don't even think Desmond is toast...I have a feeling that key acts more like a reactor shut down than a self-destruct sequence. Maybe that hatch still....uhh...works???
Anyone else think Sun is inevitably going to be kidnapped, and her baby "probed" and experimented on, as they did with Claire, Rouseau's baby, Walt, etc??? Me thinks a good chunk of the "Others/Hostiles" are kidnapped babies all grown up.

I totally think that. I think that's why the writer's put her on the boat with Jin and Sayid. So that The Others could kidnap her.
Here's another thought on the hatch. Is this what The Incident was? Someone left the hatch for too long and the clock counted down to zero, then something really bad happended, like the whole thing blew up. Or a plane crashed on the island. Or something like that. That's why the protocol was changed to have a team of two in place, working in shifts. So that the button never had to be left alone. Did Locke create another incident? Or, did Desmond and his key help to avoid another Incident?
So, we know now that he button was not an experiment, it was real. But what's the story of the people filling in the unread notebooks? Was that just an experiment? To see how well two people can exist while just observing other people?
Nothing is what it seems. :cornut:

You missed the Echo story? A group of bandit types raided the village they were in. Killed most of the adults and took some of the children. They were going to take Echo's smaller brother but first they wanted him to kill an old man. He couldn't do it and the bandits were getting upset. Echo grabbed the gun and killed the old man so they took him instead. He grew up with them and eventually became the top bad-ass killer. Look a few links up for Kam's list to see what episode to look for. It leads into the old plane that they found on the island full of drugs.

I thought that sucked because I wanted to rewatch S1 and S2 before S3 started. It's nice to see that the date has been moved up. I'm not pre-ordering it though. Thanks for the tip of the Sept. release date for S2. When the season ended, the release date for the DVD was Oct. 3. The day before S3 started. I thought that sucked because I wanted to rewatch S1 and S2 before S3 started. It's nice to see that the date has been moved up. I'm not pre-ordering it though. My guess is that it'll be cheaper at Best Buy or Future Shop for the first couple of weeks.
I haven't been watching the reruns either. I want to rewatch S1 first. Haven't managed to find time for that. My whole plan may just be shot to hell.
Yeah, I thought Oct. 3 was the case too, guess they wisened up some! You're probably rigth, these days the cheapest a movie or boxed set ever is seems to be opening week when all the sellers try to bring you to their stores.

I'm on vacation this week so I've finally found some time to watch the S1 DVDs. I've watched the first six episodes. The lostaways have no idea about The Others yet. But it's very interesting to note how often the phrase The Others is being used. Only right now it just refers to the other lostaways.
A couple of examples:
When Sayid and crew discover the French Woman's trasmission and that it's been running for 16 years, they wonder whether to tell The Others.
In White Rabbit, Jack and Locke have a discussion about The Others needing a leader. I haven't actually counted but they must say The Others to each other four or five times in this short conversation.
As I watch the rest of the episodes, I'm going to pay close attention to how this phrase transitions from meaning the rest of their clan to meaning the other people on the island.
It's interesting to rewatch these episodes with the knowledge that we now have after two seasons.

Interesting. I wonder if this is a sign. Maybe the Lostaways and Others will some day join up to form THE community.
its also an interesting commentary on how we view "others" around us. who is "us" and who is "them."
see... greatest. show. ever. :)
btw... as we are getting closer to having wednesday's matter once again, should we keep going on this thread for season 3 or start a new thread? I figure a new thread and see how far it goes to rival this one? What say you fellow losties? :)

I vote for a new thread. But who's going to start it. I'm verbally challenged, so I also vote that Kam is the man.

works for me! I'll start it up the week before the season starts to get us all even-more hyped up and start throwing all my crap predictions against the wall. one of the hundred is bound to stick just like season 2! (i think i thought 1 thing that happenned?)

As I was reviving this thread this morning, I was pondering the exact same thing!!! I agree, new thread for the new season. I second the motion for Kam to kick things off again. It only seems right since he's the one who started this thread. Kam for AR Lost Club president!
Earlier this week, I was reading an article in our local paper's TV Guide that said that some new cast members had been hired for S3. Including new Castaways. At first, I assumed that the new cast members would be members of The Others and the Castaways would be previously unmet Lostaways. There were 47 of them, after all, but we've really only met a handful close up. But...here's a thought...
If 815 crashed because Desmond didn't hit the button...what if Locke's not pushing the button created another crash. Either a plane or a boat. And there's a whole NEW set of people on the island in S3.
Hmmmmmmm.

New thread? Well, I'll go w/ the majority - guess it's easier - though I'm gonna miss this old gal...this must be the record holder.
To be honest, I've been worried we'd hit a thread limit for awhile now. A fresh start would alleviate all concerns...

i know... that was my reluctant thought too, but wasnt sure if this could go another 5-600 posts with season 3 tacked on to it.... but this way we can also have season 3 thread be the lil sibling to season 2 thread...
p.s. any suggestions to the thread title? i really liked "and i'm lost all over again" trying to think up a new one.....

I always liked Charlie's "Guys, where are we?" line, but I'll leave it in your capable hands...
Title's less important to me than the hundreds of new post underneath it....
Got my Season 2 on order...
I thought this would be a nice lil recap of our own thoughts from the first 7+ pages of the thread.... Some interesting fun quotes thoughts and theories we've all had and my own lil editorial comments in parenthesis:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FA: Okay, not to turn this into a Lost discussion board, but this is SO cool.
Okay, I'm now officially bordering on obsession .
Kam: is the entire island under magnetic quarantine?
JSE: Ever notice the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42 all equal 108? Maybe this has been covered before but it clearly is not coincedence.
FA: know what's really sad? I have those numbers memorized
The big question is...are the other stations on the island??????
Kam: Yeah, and how big is this island? they went to the top of it, i thought, when sayid was transmitting. so they must've seen all around, right? i.e. water on all side? or... OR... OR are they on a peninsula? i bet they've been on florida the ENTIRE TIME!!!
(oooooooooooo....k… so not ALL my predictions were stellar)
Kam: yeah, you're right, looking too deep into everything now. it was station 3 of 6. (me? looking too deep into something? pshaw....)
Topspeed: It was definitely cool how they gave more background info on Hurley (His name is Hugo Hurley??? His parents should be shot!) as he has become one of my favorite characters.
Kam: i thought when ana lucia knocked on the bunker door there was a dharma symbol but with a straight arrow instead of the swan. this might be bunker #2, and the frenchwoman had found bunker#3, which may mean that all 6 bunkers are on the island.
(SEE!!! SEE!!! i got one!)
i think the cement was poured to cover 'the incident' the guy refers to in the training video, and that incident is something with all this mumbo-jumbo going on. i.e. both technical with the input of the #'s and something spiritual, ala walt's psychic ability, rose's psychic (or maybe just faith?) ability, locke being able to walk again, locke's faith, the whisp of smoke / trex defense mechanism. maybe even another dimension is being held back. that they poured the cement to block a wormhole?
(ok…. fine…..)
FA: I want empirical answers to the looming questions. I don't need the answers right now, but when they come they had better be scientific and not some unexplained phenomenon.
Shockhead: The sister of the guy that died last season will be killed off imo. To bad, she's hot. Notice i havent seen much of her this season.
(he posts ONCE!!! godblessid and nails this one)
Top: You know, you two aren't making the next couple o' weeks fly by any faster ! What I didn't need was more questions waiting to be answered!
(one of my more lucid discoveries, albeit late)
Kam: btw... i guess other's have prolly realized this... but they were on Oceanic Flight 815.... "8" "15"
(referring to one of my indepth, crap analysis plot guessing)
FA: Yeesh! And topspeed thinks that I'm the one who's obsessed.
(two posts later….)
Do you guys get the Lost Island Insider newsletter emailed to you?
(after a brief desperate housewives aside... FA graces us with this interesting thought....)
FA:See, I find Evengeline to be much more attractive than Eva. Eva is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I prefer the more natural, athletic, wholesome look.
Here's my new theory on The Others. They haven't killed anyone. They have kidnapped the Tailies and brainwashed them to turn them into Others
(snap! nailed another one!)
Kam: it most definitely feels like an experiment, but... almost as if there are multiple experiments on the island, as Desmond down in the bunker didnt seem that he knew about the Others, or at least the ones on the boat that took Walt?
(Ha! ha!)
FA:My guess is that each of the six stations were responsible for a different experiment. Let's also not forget the Shark with the Dharma sign on it, indicating that there is some sort of animal experiment going on as well. I believe that Zoology was one of the initiatives mentioned in the Video.
(dammit… nailin’ ‘em)
Okay, I taped last night's epi. I tape them every week in case I want to go back and check something.
(hmmmm tea kettle? pot? an introduction is in order I believe….)
Kam: I bet that guy from sayid's past in the army is gonna end up in the bunker with desmond and desmond is gonna kill him because of something and end up screwing the daughter of the guy who runs dharma or something and then she'll be on the lookout for the island because of the magnetic release thingy that's been going on which is also probably what crashed the plane in the first place, all that electromagnetic energy being built up...
(ok... so i just wrote that now, but STILL... that woulda been cool)
FA:
4) When they find the bunker
a) Quarantine is printed on the inside of the door, just like when the Fusies blew off the hatch to the Swan.
b) There is a Dharma symbol that is not a Swan so we now know, for sure, that it's a different bunker. So, at least two bunkers on the island.
c) The glass eye is puzzling. But no doubt it will turn out to be important at some point so let's make a note of it and not forget it.
(what the hell did happen with that glass eye??)
JSE: It's also strange that Goodwin seemed suprised when the Tailies found their bunker. This seems to support the Other's are/were a part of a "bigger picture" experiment. They are simply the "mice" that were left behind and have formed their own society on the Island.
JSE: One thing is for sure, the passenger's will probably "take it to" the others at some point. There is an arsenal in the Swan bunker. I would be finding out what's going on one way or another if I was there.
(snap! the war!)
Top: The only thing that stood out in my mind was when Mr. Echo picked up Sawyer to take him to Jack. Ana asked if he was doing it for them, he said, "No. I'm doing it for me." Eventually, we'll probably see something in his background related to some sort of loss or feeling of helplessness.
(nailing another one….)
Kam:
4) the fusies all called locke "Mr. Locke" in those first few episodes, just like "Mr. Echo" on the tailies section. and locke, playing backgammon with walt, explaining the game to him says "there's two sides, a light side and a dark side...." i think locke and echo are going to be opposite sides of the same coin.
(ha! ha! I say Ha!)
quoting:
Echo: I need to tell you something and I will begin at the very beginning.
Locke: Ok.
Echo: Thousands of years before Jesus Christ walked the earth, there were the jews....
Locke: Wow you really meant the "beginning".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ahh.... the memories............. :)

Wow! Great price. They've got it listed at $62.49 on their web site. Future Shop is advertising it at $54.99. I still have nine or ten episodes of S1 to rewatch before I can watch S2. I'm hoping to get at lease four more episodes in this long weekend (watched two today).
Is that DT DVD the Budokan one? I bought that one, on sale, a while ago but haven't watched it yet.

I noticed that as I've been rewatching S1. I'm amazed at some of the comments and facial expressions that are foreshadowing, only you don't know that they're foreshadowing at the time.
It's quite fun to go back and rewatch the past, when you know so much more about the future.

Funny thing is - and I could be wrong - aren't the actors kept in the dark until they shoot each successive episode? Thought I read that somewhere - if that's right, their acting in the dark and foreshadowing without knowing it...
Is it October yet?

this happens a lot with child actors. kubrick worked this way. the kid in the shining thought they were working on a comedy.

Yes, I also recall that the actors are on a need to know basis. So maybe they're told how to react to certain things. As an example, I can't remember which S1 episode it was now but, there's something going on with Claire and her unborn baby. Sun and Jin glance at each other. As the time, it appears meaningless. But in retrospect, knowing that they couldn't have a child, that glance is filled with meaning. I might be imagining it, but why would they edit in a glance between Sun and Jin? The actors certainly could have been directed to have this moment without knowing the full story as to why.

2. Most of da womins on here... and some of the men too are hot.
3. Hawaii never looked so good.
4. This show makes the Twilight Zone seem sane....

2. How do all those women stay so clean and look so hot ON A DESTERTED ISLAND!!!

5. Why do they let Charly live?

Big fat no to all the above as they have pretty much all been denied by the writers...I think the clues lie in the titles of the Novels we've seen (well except for Are You There God It's Me Margaret)....
2. How do all those women stay so clean and look so hot ON A DESTERTED ISLAND!!!

So we agree they aren't already dead....
5. Why do they let Charly live?
He's an instrument of God now I think...and he is a rock star...
6. Who's wrting this show? Aliens?
A few people, but under the supervision of the same guy who got the go ahead to do the next Star Trek movie..thank god!!!

Welcome to the insanity Worf! Good to have you here.
I was watching the finale of S1 yesterday and asked myself that very same question about Charly. The show would not suffer at all if he died. Having said that, we briefly saw a very dark side of Charly in S2. I'd like to see the writers build on that. That would make his character a little more interesting. Let's see Charly crack (not on crack, we've kinda seen that).
In a happy twist of fate, I have a bronchial infection and had to cancel all my appointments today. I was concerned that I wouldn't have time to rewatch S2 before S3 starts. But I now have the whole day off to watch Lost. I've never been so happy to be sick.

It's an experiment started by the Japanese government during world war II. Once the war was over, a rouge group, who didn't want to admit defeat, continued the experiment. They don't want to bring anyone else into the fold, so personnel has become limited as the original members have grown old and most are dead. Only children and grandchildren run it now.

i was watching the beginning of season 2, and watching that first episode, it really hit me how much ground they really covered over season 2! from the opening of that hatch, they really just went nuts. that long delay of reruns midseason really slowed everything down, but wow was that a fast ride!
also, i am dying to see if they open season 3 with the same shot they did for 1 and 2. in one, they had jack's eye opening up and dilating with the light, in season 2, they had desmond's eye opening and dilating with the light.... wonder who it might be for season 3?

I was thinking along those same lines over the weekend as I watched S2. Only I found that whole "tailies" section kinda dull. And since they killed two of them off, I didn't really see the point, other than introducing Ecko into the mix. I couldn't wait for Fake-Henry to show up and add some excitement, which he finally did.

I'd make bet it's the long on this board in years and there's new posts daily.
You folks gotta calm down and get a life for this Island eats ya up. Just a word of caution from a man who thinks he's Kingon...

i think my only saving grace from true infanity is that i know im being insane... IF i thought this level of obsession was normal (then again, if you watch the show, how could you NOT be obssessed!!) then i would be in trouble... but still... i am close to being as much a lostie as trek fans were trekkies or trekkers... i do have TWO articles of clothing now that have the numbers on them, a hoodie and a wool cap, however... i havent worn them both at the same time!!
ah jeez.. who i'm kidding.. have me committed!

Crap. I think that Worf is really Henry Gale. The guy they dug up in the grave was just a decoy. :(
I just finished watching another S2 episode. The one where Claire finds the medical station where Ethan was keeping her. Russeau played a big part in that episode. I want Russeau's back story!!!

Oh great. Now you guys & gals are obsessing over who is obsessing the most? One of you (ahem, Kam) is obsessing over a new thread that hasn't even started yet. He keeps dangling this new thread, and the great new name that he won't release, in front of our eyes. Several of you watched the show, then ran out and bought the DVD's to watch it again (in frame by frame I'm sure). Another of you, (FA) celebrated being sick by watching 2 full work days worth of this show. Then got upset that she was feeling better.:mad2:
And you people call ME sick?

So did anyone watch the review show last night? A nice warmup for next week, I thought. Well done in that they blended S1 and S2 together and followed the story in chronological order. And narrated by the voice of our good friend Fake Henry. Which, I hate to admit, send chills down my spine when I recognized the voice. Well done, producers.
Next week's premiere looks exciting! Plan....your....escape.

Who? Who are you thinking, maybe?
I say Rose. Here's why...
1. Something happened to the magnetic force. Rose's cancer will come back (and maybe Locke won't be able to walk) in S3. Both will become subjects of Hanso experiments and Rose will die.
2. Rose was recently in an episode of ER, playing a doctor. Now, it was only a guest appearance. But, would Lost let her appear on another show while under contract with Lost?

I think it's gonna be one of the tailies - hopefully not Eko. He's cool.
Dunno which one in particular, but they all seem to die off and he's the only big one left I can think of other than Rose's man.
If not him, well, I'm guessing that it's Rose, just to prove the point that there's something weird about the island (as if they haven't already got that impression).
I like Charlie - his band kicks ass. He's a survivor, ain't no way he's going first in S3.

Maybe it'll be Sun. You know what almost happened to Claire when The Others tried to get her baby. I wonder what they'll do when they find out that Sun is pregnant.

From what I understand, The Lost Experience is an on-line game that started last spring with the Hanso Foundation commercials on ABC. The websites given at the end of the commercials were not only advertisements for Sprite, Jeep, and others, but also held clues and links to other sites. The new Hanso Foundation site was launched and additional clues were added all the time (weekly?). New characters were introduced and new situations related to Hanso and Widmore were revealed.
From what I can gather, The Lost Experience is another dimension to...well...the Lost experience. I think that it provides background and complexity to the work of both the Hanso Foundation and the Widmore companies.
Frankly, I have a hard enough time keeping up with what's going on in the show without adding all this other stuff. There are limits to the level that I will allow myself to become obsessed, so I have purposfully stayed away from The Lost Experience.
ONLY 10 HOURS AND 11 MINUTES TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I don't have enough spare time to dive into a Lost game of sorts...Besides, I only accept actual TV episode and official website stuff as Lost canon.
wasn't persephone on the map as well? along with a mention of cerebrus? so while this rachel blake chicky might not be part of the Lost Canon (i love that) the name persephone sure has sprung up before.
so locke accidentally sets the magnetic thingamajiggy off this second time (desmond did the first time to drop the losties plane out of the sky to start season 1) and it seems kind of odd that the map has a reference to a gateway to the underworld, the guardian to the underworld and the keeper of the underworld....
about persephone on the link:
"Her story has great emotional power: an innocent maiden; a mother's grief at the abduction and the return of her daughter."
Rousseau... with her daughter?
I think rousseau and alex are gonna figure back in.
btw... so everyone is prepared:
ONLY 6 new episodes and then the hiatus starts up again before new episodes start up again in february. ARGH!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I read that last night. That's one hell of a hiatus. But I'd rather have that then have 2 new epis, 2 reruns, 3 new epis, 2 reruns, 6 new epis, 4 reruns, etc. That just made me crazy last year!
Is anyone else wondering where the summer went? It seems like S2 just ended and S3 was a million months away. And here we are at S3 already. :frown2:
I can't wait for Rousseau and Alex to be reunited. That's gonna be one killer show! And I'd still like to see Rousseau's back story and island story. They shared the first 48 days of the Tailies with us. Let's see Rousseau's last 16 years. How could she live on the island for that long and not have interacted with the Others. Has she ever tried to escape? Why did she kill her fellow castaways? How could she wander around for 16 years and never have stumbled onto a Dharma station, or the pile of capsules with the notebooks, or the Others camp(s)? She has to know more than she's telling!!!

...with the others? Thought it was some sort of flashback (in the sense of individual backstory)...where do these people think they are Club Med?
Looks like were into the rats-in-a-maze concept again...
All I know is that Fake Henry, Ben or whatever his name is, is truly deserving of soft tissue damage followed up by a regimen of Channel-locks to the digital joints...
