Stationary mp3 player ??????

Is there a non-portable mp3 / WMA player with a big hard disk on the market? I've been searching but I can only find the ones that you have to hook up to your computer. Basicly I'm looking for a stationary ipod.

Apple does make a 60 GB version, I believe. That's about 500 CDs compressed. Do you need more?

I was wondering this too. I don't have an answer, nor have I looked hard. But, what is probably just about the same is essentially a small computer with a tiny monitor...and a key board.

How're you going to import songs if it's stationary? I was thinking of something along the lines of a Mac Mini which you could expand infinitely with external drives-- and then going for a tiny 7" TFT LCD monitor.

The mac mini suggestion is good. I use one as an audio server. It draws only about 20 watts at idle, is inaudible beyond about a foot and is almost infinitely configurable with loads of software choices. If you need more than the current max of 80GBs of internal storage, adding external drives is simple and cost effective. Compared to dedicated audio components with the features you describe, the mini is a bargain especially when an upgrade path is considered. It can be configured as a dvr as well.

Just so you know. There are mini PC's available on the market too. I'm a mac fan though. I think you'd have far fewer hassles setting it up...
