I have been looking around and want to upgrade my tv. Why is it I can buy a
1080p Sony SXBR 60" for $ 4999 or less, but the 70" (which I really want)
is $ 13,999?
I have also looked at the JVC D-ILA but I'm not sure if it's 1080P.

because it's not just dollars for inches in this case. The 60" is plain vanilla LCD, and the 70" is LCos. By the way, remember that these sets cannot input 1080p, only scale to it, which is a lot less glamorous and doesn't make them future-proof. It does help on big screens in big rooms, however, with higher rez content.

Sony's 1080p SXRD (LCoS) is now available from Crutchfield for $4,999, if that is the set you are referring to. JVC's 1080p DILA is supposed to be released any day now and Hitachi is also due to release a 1080p LCoS set sometime this fall.

Topspeed's SXRD at Crutchfield is the new 60". Last year's 70" version, which was in limited production and distribution, was never available for less than $12,000. The competition from Hitachi and JVC might just make this interesting.
