It seems with anticipation of the remake (WHY this was necessary I will never know, but I said the same thing about The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, blah blah blah), MGM is re-issuing the awesome original THE FOG with details looking like this:

Looks like the same packaging but this time with a BLUE cover instead of a green one on the previous special edition, but this one is gonna eliminate the pan and scan version for a widescreen only transfer that's supposed to be HIGH DEF "treated" so I'll probably upgrade as I love this little Carpenter flick.....
The same extras seem to adorn this one that are on the previous, currently-available green covered Special Edition......
The same Dolby Digital 5.1 remix seems to be onboard as well......
AND.....For those WARRIORS fans out there, how long have we been WAITING for THIS:

Unfortunately, we have no information as of yet if this is going to be remixed from its current original mono mix (for 5.1 or even for Dolby Surround) or if there will be any video improvements or just the addition of extra material; there is speculation that this may in fact be a director's cut of the film from Walter Hill and may change some crucial parts of the theatrical release. I hope not.
This Fall is gonna KILL me financially, DVD shopping......
