I just found an Arcam CD72T for a great price and was wondering if it would be worth it to switch to the 72 from my Cambridge audio D300se. If not, what player would be the player that would better my Cambridge by enough that I would notice a large difference.

In my opinion the Arcam will sound noticeably better than the Cambridge. How much you will notice I can't say, it depends on the rest of your system and how acute your hearing and attention to detail is. You can never go wrong by improving your source in my book.

Mr 2 channel, where did you find your Musical Fidelity? I have only read good things about the gear. I wish some one here carried the line so I could get a listen.
What part of the city are you in? Email me if you don't want it on the board.

Not only are you 2 channel, you are 2 identities. LOL
These days most say your better off having a one box cd player due to better jitter control but I don't know how true that is. The point being depending on how much the Arcam costs you may be as well off looking for a used DAC that would give you an even better improvement over the Arcam. On another system I was using an older Denon and added a Conrad Johnson DAC I picked up for $400.00 and it made a dramatic difference in that system. Then again you either have to get it from some one you trust or know the performance of the brands you look at. If you are really looking for something new let me know and I will let you know if I find anything. I like checking www.spearitsound.com and www.upscaleaudio.com to wee what they have on their "used & demo" link. I'm sure many other hi fi stores have similar and of course there's Audiogon. Depending on what type of sound you are looking for I've been considering picking up a tube DAC or CDP as an occasional alternative. The Jolida 100a gets good reviews for around $800.00 new and the Cayin or Shanling, both around $1,700.00 are supposed to be giant killers. The later 2 are too much money for me just to have as a toy. I also found a used Manley tube DAC for $550.00. If you want a more of a solid state and I'd say more accurate or detailed sound the Arcam is a good choice.

And they are outstanding units for the price. Highly recommended.
