i listen to alot of electronic/house/techno music...
i need to get a good set of speakers that i can play most music on, and maybe use for fronts for my theater setup also... 80% music, 20% theater use....

so far i picked a sony

STR-DA2000ES *reviever

Sony DVP-NC555ES ES *5-dvd/cd player

i want to spend about $600 max on speakers....just 2 (no need for a sub-woofer yet)

i have been researching nht sb-3 and klipsch sb-3's. i like the smaller size vs getting some huge cerwin vega's up front. mid-bass is more important that boomy bass...
any other ideas?

Well if you listen to house...your mids are not going to give you the oumph needed for bass....if its boomy it wasnt set up right

Getting great reviews, I've heard 'em and, after listening to quite a few other more famous widely distributed speakers, own their little bro.

They can easily be "expanded" to a full blown HT for a llttle more. ..also available a Best Buy.

How about a pair of JBL E-20s (not the best but has the same sonic signature as the E-90s) for $200 delivered and Adire Audio Rava for $400 (probably closer to $450 delivered)? This covers the entire audio spectrum, gives you an excellent sub, plus gives you a pair of speakers to use as surrounds at a later time.
