Hi all. I generally post in the Raverecordings forum, but today I need some movie suggestions. I won a baseball bet with a buddy, & payoff is a sports themed DVD of my choice. Looking for suggestions for quality sports themed flicks.

Fyi, I already own:
Field of Dreams
The Natural
Remember The Titans
Miracle
Radio
Hardball

Thanks :)

Eight Men Out
The Rookie (kinda schlocky, but good family fun)
The Bad News Bears
61 (i havent seen this one, but heard it was good)

hope that gives ya some ideas!

My favorite is "SlapShot" with Paul Newman. But it has extensive swearing -- at the time the most of any film ever most likely. But man is it brilliant. http://www.wafflemovies.com/slapshot.html

There are many fine ones Major League is funny, Eight men Out is another good one and many others suggest and those of which you already own. Though Million Dollar Baby is recently out and is excellent as is Cinderella Man (when it comes to DVD

Bull Durham is also quite good and Cobb (about Ty Cobb is pretty decent) But Slapshot's my pick here. You don't have to know anything about Hockey to enjoy it either.

But then again I am Canadian so ther could be some bias here.

I'm with RGA, SlapShot is too funny. Heads and shoulders above the rest.

I'd forgotten about; Breaking Away, Slapshot & Rollerball. All great.

Classics that I will eventually get (if not right now): Rocky, Bull Durham, A League of their Own, Caddyshack, Rudy

Forgot that I already own: Bad News Bears & The Rookie

Seen these, all good, but prolly won't get: Hoosiers, Bend it Like Beckham, 61, Sandlot, Eight Men Out

Thanks a bunch for the suggestions! I think I'll go with Caddysahck…no wait, Breaking Away…uh, Slapshot?....Bull Durham?…A League of…….UGH, too hard to pick just one! So many movies…so little time!

Whatsamata, you guy's too "manly" for Brian's Song?

I thought Tin Cup was funny as hell.

Does Seabiscuit count as a sports movie? If it does, two thumbs up for Let it Ride (Richard Dreyfuss).
