What an incredible post. Thanks for the laugh and I am proud none of them are in my collection.

Hey I remember seeing this group of covers on this board before . Maybe sometime in 2000-2001 time frame. I suspect the web author must have lifted for somewhere else and then copyrighted with a 2005 copyright date. What the record companies won't do to sell marginal records!! The Millie Jackson one is pretty blatant. So was the femmine looking boy looking for boy toyz!!! But I still think that originated on this fourm 4-5 years back.

I think the previous worst album cover list that was posted here was a list of 50 or 100. Unfortunately, only one of mine showed up:

For me, it's all about Joyce. It has to be about...Joyce.

Julie's 16th Birthday is my favorite from that group.

Deanmartin, that Les Baxter cover is a beaut! Exceedingly rare album, I always wondered if it was good, cuz I really like the other Baxter LPs I own.

I have a massive collection of bad/goofy vinyl. Thousands of titles.

I had a bunch scanned, but seem to have missplaced the jpgs when I switched servers recently.

However, I did make these "Musical Mayhem" CD comps built entirely of chunks of hunderds of these records. A few have made the rounds here over the years to much amusement:

Thanks, Troy. A very industrious and good friend of mine snagged TWO copies and sent me one. Mine is not in the best condition. I don't play it but I display it proudly. (Well...as of yet I haven't played it, but now I'm curious.) I'll follow up with the track list when I get home and if the condition is not too bad, I'll give it a spin and provide some comments. I think a few of the tracks have appeared on the Ultra Lounge series and DCC's Music for a Bachelor's Den series. The one I listen to the most is the 2 disc set The Exotic Moods of Les Baxter. I found a copy of Tamboo (another cool cover) on display in a record store several years ago, but the owner wouldn't sell it. Now that the lounge craze has died down, I might try again. For that "space age" sound I like Esquivel.

It's been a while since I've listened to any of this. Now I'm going to have to revisit my Lounge/Exotica titles. I'm definitely going to upload some more album covers in the gallery. I couldn't get your link to work. I'll try again later.

I have 2 copies. But I'm weird that way. Honestly, when you see that at a garage sale for a quarter and you already have it, you telling me that you don't buy it anyway? LOL

One of the best album titles EVER.

Yes, it's so true...on so many levels.

Troy - I'm listening to Space Escapade now. It's in much better condition than I remembered. I can't believe I haven't actually played it until now. I guess I was a little more anal when it came to collecting when I first got the album.

Track list:
Side1
Shooting Star
Moonscape
Mr. Robot
The City
A Distant Star
The Commuter

Side 2
Winds of Sirius
The Other Side of the Moon
Somewhere in Space
Earth Light
The Lady is Blue
Saturday Night on Saturn

I would describe the music as perfectly arranged (nothing new here) and a little lighter and more sentimental than his African-Polynesian stuff. I prefer the dark lushness and driving percussion of his Tiki style. But this is an extremely enjoyable album. I think he uses a Theramin on a couple of tracks but it's very subtle. RCA and Mercury weren't the only labels putting out great sounding records back then. This Capitol High Fidelity Recording is awesome. Several standout tracks here. The last half of The Lady is Blue has a down and dirty muted trumpet with swingin' and grindin' bass and drums. Saturday Night on Saturn is full of brilliant syncopated rythms. Side 2 is where the action is. Baxter cuts loose a little more. It's not as straight or traditional.

(only 3 pops, the rest of the album is dead quiet - unbelieveable)

Yeah, I'm gonna have to scrounge me a copy of that thing one of these days. Unfortunately, these kinds of records are nearly imposible to find anymore, or when you do they cost 50 bucks instead of 50 cents.

Thanks for posting that.
