Some alcohol is fine. You can make your own discwasher fluid:

3 quarts distilled or deionized water
1 quart 70% isopropyl alcohol
3-4 drops Kodak Photoflo
The water and isopropyl alcohol can be found in drug or grocery stores.

Use 70% isopropyl alsohol or 91% (lab grade) if you can find it. Do not use rubbing alcohol because it contains other skin moistureizers that will leave a sticky residue on records.

Kodak Photoflo was available in camera stores before the digital age, maybe it still is. Try a Google search. It is a non-ionic detergent that is used as a wetting agent in processing film negatives. It lets the film dry without any water spots and helps prevent buildup of static electricity. Do not use the more commonly available ionic (charged) detergents. Other non-ionic detergents such as Triton X-100, X-110, X-115, NP-40, Monolan 2000 may be used if you can find them. Use just a few drop per gallon. If the fluid is sudsy, you've added too much.
