Other than country of origin? All depends on the speaker. Don't think it's fair to say Canadian speakers are designed like this and Brittish speakers like that.
There's good and bad examples of each.

A long time ago you could regionalize sound signatures. You had the west coast sound, New England sound, British sound, etc. Today, this just doesn't hold water. Besides, we all hear differently anyway so the last thing you want to do is start stereotyping based on point of origin. There are just as many people that will swear B&W's are aggressive as there are that will say they are laid back. Don't allow preconceived notions to alter your perceptions.

it depends on the brand -- overall I'm more interested in the British and European speakers than the Canadian brands. I like Gershman Acoustics out of Canada but they are quite different than other Canadian makers. Reference 3a MM De Capo is made in Canada as well and is very very nice to listen to.

If you're talking about British speakers with the British sound then Castle will offer that. You have very different speakers out of Europe in what companies like Quad, Castle Tannoy, Dynaudio, Harbeth, Spendor, are doing.
