I'm looking for a progressive scan DVD player to replace my great Pioneer DV-333.

I want great video and audio and DTS and Dolby Digital capabilities. Are the current Pioneers as good as previous ones? Any advice on specific models to look at would be appreciated.

You could buy Pioneer DV-578 (available in Silver only). This Pioneer has all Dolby DTS, Digital, plus Audio DVD. It plays back DVD-R & DVD-RW.

If you want to have a similar one but reads DVD-R, DVD-WR, DVD+R, DVD+RW you could go with Yamaha DV-S5750 for Yamaha & Pioneer - behind the scence - are ONE company.

Since we're on the topic... Does Yamaha or Pioneer make an upconverting DVD player? I was considering Sony's NS975, but I've read some bad reviews about the disc tray getting stuck. My TV accepts HDMI, and I need to play DVD+Rs and +RWs.

Any suggestions?

I just picked up the new Pioneer DV-588A universal player.

Plays almost all discs and the price is pretty good at $129.00 or so.
