I was curious what people thought about this: http://www.yamaha.ca/av/YSP1/main.jsp
Has anyone listened to one? Seems gimmicky to me, perhaps only for neat freaks who can't even handle the little cube speakers cluttering up their decor.

From what i heard,i'd take it over cubes anytime. It sounded pretty darn good with a crapy little sub they had with it.

Interesting...is the surround effect consistent throughout the listening area or do you have to sit right in the middle of the room?

Its very adjustable on setup and i was standing and moving the length of the couch and it sounded good.

Sounds like the perfect system for my dad. He hates having speakers around the room. To him they are just more clutter.
