Hey Guys,

Just thought I'd share, I got a new Rega P5. It is AWESOME. I am in love with this thing right now. Very musical, detailed and fun. I'm using a Denon cartridge. It's great.

VERY cool! Congrats, ericl. Hope you enjoy. Tell us what model Denon cart you're using and what phono preamp, please. I've been thinking about trying the Denon 110 or 160 but have been hesitant because of their low output specs. I use the phono section in a Parasound preamp - no MC option. OTOH, needledoctor.com claims that the Denon's output is actually higher than the specs indicate and that the Denons they carry can be used with a MM phono section.

Do you plan on posting reviews of the table and cart?

I will post my impressions of the setup when I get some more time with it.

The cart I am using is the DL-103. Its a low output MC cart. My preamp is a Yamaha CX-1000, which includes a great MC phonostage. These Yamaha CX series preamps seem to be real sleeper preamps, which not too many people know about but get raves by those familiar with them. They go pretty cheap, and usually have an MC phono stage. I thought the 160/110 were high output MCs?

Thanks for the heads up on the Yamaha CX series.

Output of the 110/160 is rated by Denon at 1.6 which seems a little low compared to the average 2.5 for high output MCs. Needledoctor.com says that it measured the output and it's actually 2.2.

Congrats on the new table and cartridge. The Denon 103 series is truly a classic. Mine was the conical version - think it was a 103-C.
