There was quite an interesting show on PBS last night called "John Lennnon's Jukebox" (or something close to that). In this show they'd found or were granted use of a portable home jukebox, which looked like a large suitcase. In it were '45's and a play list. You pressed a couple of buttons and the records slid into a verticle platter. During the show they played songs on the machine then went and found the as many of the artists or song writers that were still alive. Lots of old RnB, some early Rockabilly etc... Otis Redding, Booker T and the MG's, one hit wonder artists, two Loving Spoonfull songs and one Donavan. Interspersed with the interviews and the songs are tapes of Lennon talking about how he loved American music and how he "lifted licks" changed them and put them in their early records because "we couldn't write songs too well" in the early days. Fascinating... catch if if you can...
