Wall mounted TV and surround speakers

My roommate has offered to set my 27" TV on a wall mount to save me some space. I was wondering if the TV is above eye-level, or the height I'm used to for playing video games, is it more difficult to play games?

Also, I have a Yamaha surround system, and the speakers have no screw holes for wall mounting. I suppose a shelf mounted to the wall would adequately hold the speakers. I'm just looking for suggestions other than the expensive wall mounts or floor stands for the front surround speakers.
