Hello there,

My brother just gave me a Pioneer subwoofer and I'm wondering if it's possible to connect it to my PC. I have an ASUS board with nForce and the latest nForce audio driver I think it's version 5.10. Anyway, I only really want to listen to music so I only got 2 speakers too.
So all up there's 2 speakers and a subwoofer. There's 3 socket thing on the back of the sound card which are line in, line out and microphone. The speakers have a regular jack while the sub has a power cord and a socket that says 'line level input'. The weird is when I run the speaker wizard using the nForce nvidia nmixer thing, it tests all the speakers by putting some static type noise through, both the normal speakers work as well as the sub connected to the mic output but after that, no sub.

Am I brain dead or something?

Thanks

as they are all different. Usually the mic/line-in are the same plug and is selected by your sound software or using the windows mixer controls. If you still have your documentation then that would help. If you got your output working (two speakers working) then all you should need to do is to run an output cable to the line-in on the subwoofer (usually RCA). IMO, getting everything working properly with a SC and computer is nerve wrecking. There are only so many connections though so through trial and error you should find the right connection. Hope that helps, Paul.

Those subs are meant to be hooked up to the sub-out on a A/V receiver, hooking them directly to a pc, through its line out is not a safe method and could possibly short something out on your pc or even your sub.
