I have just bought a CD by James Blunt called Back to Bedlam that is very good. I have not heard of him before and bought it unheard from a local shop because the quotes on the cover sticker made it look interesting.

There are hints of 70's Elton John, Damian Rice, David Gray and Fishermand's Blue era Waterboys on the album. I listened to it several times over the weekend and really like it. If you want something listenable, interesting and well recorded you may like this one.

I'll second that it's a nice album in the singer songwriter mould which might appeal to a few round here.

Another one I've been listening to lately is Blue Merle - Burning in the Sun. As a debut it's ok nothing startling just ok with a few radio friendly songs, but the band have kicked up a fair bit of criticism because the singer sounds exactly like Chris Martyn from Coldplay so much so it's uncanny. I don't have a problem with that because Chris Martyn himself is not that far removed vocally from Dave Matthews or Thom Yorke in my opinion. But basically the bands sound like Coldplay with fiddles and mandolins which married to the singers voice is not a good thing, it sounds like a blatant rip-off

Cheers
