Anybody going to the show in NYC next week-end? I always forget about it, but this time I want to check it out. I went to NAMM for the first time this January, so I'm in the mood for big crowds and mediocre sound.

I think one of our moderators goes to these shows regularly. There's a category in the gallery section for pics of events like this. If you're able to go and take a camera, please share.

That's a good idea, I'll bring my camera.

I'll be at the show for at least one day. Several companies are planning major debuts. I can't wait to hear and see what's in store!

My camera takes up to a 30 sec video, so I'll post up some video in addition to pics.

Wish there was some Vegas showgirls, but this ain't CES!

For high end, I think this will be a much better show. High end is the focus here, as opposed to a tiny side show at the CES behemoth. So, it will probably be much cooler in a lot of ways.

...a local dealer if it's worth going... he said it's exciting, but not a great place to demo gear.

I rememebr hearing a "tip" to take the elevator to whatever the top show floor is, then just take the stairs down to each level. Makes sense... the elevators are busy. And go early!

I probably pass... Jimmy's not been diggin' on excessive crowds lately...

I usually attend every year, but this will be the first year that I am not going. I've become bored with the show the last couple of years. IMHO, the HE show has become a shadow of its former self. In past years there seemed to be a greater presence of the bigger name manufacturers and dealers. Now, when I go from room to room, I'm bored by encountering brand and model after brand and model that I am just not interested in, while at the same time not seeing what I AM interested in. In addition, I find the rooms at the Hilton to be too small, stuffy and overcrowded. Room entrances are so narrow, two people can barely get by at the same time. When I consider the cost of a ticket, arm and a leg charged for parking in the area and my investment in time, I don't find the return to be worth it.
