My source is my computer.
I have it hooked up to a Technics DSP model SH-AC500D Via Digital coaxial SPDIF
The DSP is connected to my Technics SA-AX6 AV Receiver
via monster cable 250 interconnect cables.
The Receiver is hooked up to Paradigm Monitor 9 fronts (via 12 guage speaker wire) BI-Wired
I also have Paradigm ADP-370 Rears (via 12 guage speaker wire)
And Paradigm CC-370 Center (also via 12 guage wire)

I'm getting a bit of "hissing" from my center and rears
(also from the headphones)
But none from the front
I'm talking about ambient static noise
that is on with the volume all the way down, with the computer turned of.

What is the weak link?
Is it the interconnects?
Is it the AV Receiver?
Anyone I can reduce the noise with out buying a new receiver?
Would getting a amp for the sorrounds actualy help the low volume ambient noise?

Thanks for any help

I'm talking about ambient static noise that is on with the volume all the way down, with the computer turned of.

Offhand, I'd say it looks like it's the receiver.

The fact that it happens with the volume all the way down, even with no source, leadxs me to believe it MAY pe the power amp stages, although it could be in any stage thet follows the volume control.

Does it do it in the stereo mode? If not, then it's probably in the surround sound processor. These are known for generating some noise.

Headphones always seem to accentuate any noise in the sysytem.

I tried turning of just the DSP, but it changed nothing, so it has to be from amp.

What is "power amp stages"?

And how could I cure this with out replacing the receiver?
