These ladies would be rising stars in the world of rock music, if the world was really anything like the magic mushroom tangerine trees and marmalade skies and kaleidescope eyes dreamscape I float around in most of the time :)

Just listening to The Power Out today and I'm still amazed at how accomplished this band sounds. So thought I'd dredge up my initial post about it and realized it was one year almost to the day that I sang their praises here (http://forums.audioreview.com/showpost.php?p=27040&postcount=8).

So fast forward about 363 days and I just read that they have a new bass player and a new album called Axes that will be released on either May 9th or 10th (depending where you live) so thought I'd give them another mention here. Recorded over Christmas with Albini. Mostly live in the studio. Sounds like it'll be great! Just became the top position on my wishlist. More info at http://www.beggars.com/us/electrelane/. Also nice to see that Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds both already have the 2-LP set listed for preorder. http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_detail.cfm?Title_ID=15753 At least the audiophile crowd gets it ;)

Albini! Great.
Hey, yesterday I ordered that Austrian band Valina's second LP, Vagabond, that I mentioned in that post from a year ago. Also an Albini job. Some describe them as a combo of his band Shellac and Slint, but maybe a little more commercial. Listened to some samples and it sounds pretty cool. I'll keep you posted. Click cover for review :)

EDIT: although now that I think aboput it, you probably aren't really a big fan of that mathy rock that Jar and me and some of the others like so much, are you? Seems you lean more toward danceable music, with more melody. But then again, you do seem to like almost everything, so.... ;)

Valina could use a little better vocals, but the music is really solid. I'm hoping that in full fidelity the vocals will be stronger too. Sometimes streaming music doesn't seem to maintain very good [apparent] pitch.
