I just got Between the Lines by Sweet Apple Pie and Blue Screen Life by Pinback from Amazon, and Picaresque by the Decemberists from deepdiscountcd.com.
So far I really like this S.A.P. record that was raved about by J. Sounds like some good pop music to me. Check them out at SweetApplePie.com if you like. The Pinback record is from 2001, but hearing plenty of good reviews about it from Slosh, Stone, et. al., and personally ranking their most recent record, Summer in Abaddon,as my favorite for 2004, I just had to buy it. You know what? It sounds very similar to SIA, which isn't a bad thing. If someone had played it without my having ever heard it, I would immmediately know it was Pinback, no question. I haven't spun the Decemberists yet, but Castaways and Cutouts was so good that I can't imagine this being a bad record.
