I am interested in a set of sat/sub speakers. The wife does not want floor speakers. I purchased the Orbs Mod 2 system, after reading some great reviews. Being a drummer, I am looking for clean highs and tight clean bass. Seeing as they have a 30 day trial period, I felt it was worth the chance. I was using Bose, but never liked the total sound (sub). The rest of my system includes:
Onkyo TX-NR901
Pioneer DV-45A
Akai GX-625 Reel
Technics SL-1200 MK2 Turntable
Are there any other Sat/Subs anyone would recommend. I have yet to receive the Orbs yet.
Thanks

checkout the definitive technology procinema systems. They are great for music as well as ht.They have different sizes as well as colors.I had the 100's w/c2 center and 200tl sub for 4 years and they were great.

If you go with the DefTech route I would recommend going up to the Procinema 200s for fronts. While I liked the 100s while I was in an apartment I would have gone with 200s if I thought I wouldn't get evicted. Plus the Definitive Technology satellites will look like towers compared to the Bose and Orbs so that is an issue (wife's I'm sure) maybe some others can give you ideas. You should tell her that Tower speakers can be used as pedestals to place plants and vases on, and that some take up less floor space than satellite stands.

I agree with chimera regarding the Def Tech 100s vs 200s. I have a couple 100s sitting in my basement collecting dust and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them- they work well as fronts in smaller rooms and are good for surrounds.

Chimera- Do you know anything about the Def Tech SM350 speakers? I can probably get the 350s for about $340/pair or so. My dealer doesn't have the 200s- they only carry the 60s, 80s, 100s, 350s 450s and then some floorstanders. Just wondering since you seem to know a lot of Def Tech.

Thanks.
Eric

Please tell me those Def Tech 100/200's sound better than the BP 2000, which is one of the worst sounding and boomiest/mussiest speakers I've ever heard.

They are direct radiating not bipolar.Besides the bp towers need to be setup correctly.Any how i had the procinema 100's in a 19.5 x 22.5 room and they were more than enough i even had them wired per def.tech. specs. But obviously the 200's would probably be better(though i never heard them) but they are alot bigger than the 100's.All i can say you cant go wrong with the 100's they are a fine setup. And if the idea is to get sat/sub the def.tech are definatly the best IMHO.
