In Response to Shwamdoo's post I figured rather than JUST price - what is the dream system you would want cost no object. It does not necessarily have to be one you've heard though it would be good if you had a good idea what you would be in for...so you may choose something like the Dynaudio Evidence Master or the Avantegaurde Trios based on your auditions of lower priced speakers that wowed you from those companies. Or hell just a system you would love hear because the system interests you - and maybe post why it interests you.

I'm doing it based on two channel but do both if you wish. I have a few totally different set-ups in mind, but I'll post the predictable one first (well predictable if you know me on here).

The only rule is that your 2 channel system be at least $150,000.00US list. (post prices of each unit). And photo if you have em.

My system of interest, having not heard any of the componants but of which I own the lower models is from Audio Note.

I am interested in the set-up due to the companies absolute control of the entire Audio chain from Source to speaker but moreover their control over most of the critical parts from the transformers to wiring and the solder mateiral. The ridiculous nature and extent they go to test everything from the soldering material to chipsets to wiring density and the physical material of transformers capacitors et with the incredibly senstive measuring and computer technology they've invested in). I am hoping to hear the uber system at next year's CES in las Vegas.

To the total system, including digital source, I need to add ...

Magnum/Dynalab MD-100 analog FM tuner $1600
Magnum/Dynalab ST-2 FM Antenna $100

This brings the total cost to $153,650 -- what a bargain!

Looking good, Florian, one could do a lot worse than those MG 20.1's

Well you know, i listend to a lot of mega buck speakers. And while 17K is not exactly a small amount of cash it is still alot cheaper than either a 130K paper box or 100K horn.

To me, the 20.1 is the best speaker there is. And i own the 3.6R/SE...so only one more to go :D but i will go the active route, and buy a second Krell which brings me very very close to the 20.1.

Try hearing a used Krell, Pathos or H2O amp with the 1.6's. My friend had a Belcanto evo and while it didnt sound bad, the others were heaps and bounds above it. Give it a try...

PS: Dont let anyone sell you some mega buck box, there are many 20K boxes that are no match to the 1.6....

Not sure of the prices. But here goes.

Musical Fidelity -
kW - Power Amplifier
kW - Pre - Amp
Tri Vista - SACD Player

Speakers -

Dynaudio -
Evidence Temptation
HSU Research -
Dr. Hsu would be hired to come in and custom design a system to integrate with these speakers.

This system really delivers the goods with midrange transprency and high frequency resolution that is to die for.

Cheers,
Glenn

Man have there been some killer combos created on this thread. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Yes its pretty cool to see what the ultimate goal is. The only unrealistic dream component of my system would be the Krell MRA's. but i think i will switch them for Pathos in power monos.

I heard the big dynaudio master....very nice indeed.

Speakers
[Dynaudio Evidence-Master]-$90,000

Amps
[Accuphase M-8000 Monoblocks]-$20,000
250w/8ohm, 500w/4ohm, 1000w/2ohm, 2000w/1ohm.....being able to double power output when ohm resistance is halfed means this amp has real balls.

Pre-Amp
[Accuphase]-$20,000

CDP
[Accuphase]-$10,000

IC, speaker wire and power cords all AudioQuest SKY, Everest and NRG5-$10,000

all for playing a $10.00 red-book cd...hahaha

Total-$150,000 plus cd =$150,010

Ohh and I forgot a seperate power line coming into the house just for audio with each component on its own circuit....with a pure copper isolated/dedicated earth ground.

Ground plugs removed from all but one amp so the entire system is grounded via one source so no ground loops.

Concrete floor with carpet and padding and treated non-parallel walls.

If anyone has ever been to an IMAX movie theater then you know that it is awsome. I dont know the exact equipment that they use but that would be my dream system.

Good call - why not include the room. Have all the gear and the Imax crew come and design and build you the room -- now that's a theater!!

Some good systems so far -- I would probably consider some pure, all, and only class A amplfiers over some of the ones listed to try out and see if it worked better.
