Many of you will not know me and some may wish I had stayed away longer...HA! Lot's has happened in the past 2yrs. New business, new home, NEW HOME THEATER AND FRONT-PROJECTOR! I look forward to hearing from some of the "old gang" ie Terrence, Smoky, Nick, just to name a few.

Anyway, here are the specs on the new HT Setup and I will followup with pics in a couple days.........I sure do love this setup and have stayed away from the "upgrade bug" for quite some time now...but, I am "eyeing" the new Denon AVR-5805!

This dedicated HT room measures 26'x17'. Scaling & the Panamorph Lens allow all sources' (NTSC or True 1080i) to be projected onto the 133" screen in 16:9 aspect ratio without stretching (or altering the picture aspect ratio ie stretching or “squishing” the picture)! All NTSC sources are output from the Key Digital Scaler in 1080i!

System:

AVR:
Denon 5800 (7.1 170w x 7)
Projector:
JVC DLA-SX21U (LCOS 1.5m Pixel)
Scaler:
Key Digital “Hanna” (converts all NTSC sources to 1080i)
Screen:
Draper 133" 16:9
Lens:
Panamorph PSO-SX21
Speakers:
Mains-
Def Tech BP3000TL (Bipolar w/ (1) 18" 1000w
powered sub in each)
Center Channel-
Def Tech C/L/R 3000 (Mono-Pole w/ (1) 10" 150w
powered sub))
L/R surrounds & L/R Rear Surrounds-
In-Wall Flush mounted (THX-Ultra) Atlantic Technology
System 20eSR Dipoles
LFE-Subwoofer-
1-(2700w) Sunfire True Subwoofer
DVD-Audio/Video Player:
Panasonic RP-91k
Satellite:
HD (Dish network)
Recording/HD Viewing device:
JVC SR-VD400US Pro D-VHS (True 1080i Record & Transmission via Firewire)
Wire and cabling:
Straight Wire, Monster and Audio Quest.

Thanks for looking, and I will post pics in a couple days!

Good to be back!!
Robert

No wonder you haven't been posting. With all those equipments, you have turn into complete couch potato....

As you can see, there have been quite few changes around here. With Sir TT moderating this forum and running everybody off (including Mtry), I'm surprised there are anybody left from the old gang :D

Okay,
Maybe the threats of missle lauches directed at mtry house was a bit much, but I think I am a pretty good moderator(notice the words I THINK), at least I don't start forest fires in your zip code.(LOL)

Rob,
Man am I glad to see you bro! You have been away too long, and were sorely missed. Your equipment list very cool. I have done some major upgrading myself, and have a huge one coming up(getting ready to buy a hi def TV). I have completely redone the sound half of my system, but am going to purchase some new main speakers in the near future.

Let's see those pics, I think Kex and I are going to drown you in drool

I'm trying to get the pics up, but can't figure it out. I will be happy (and appreciative!) if somebody that knows how to get the pics up would be so kind as to PM me and let me e-mail the pics to them and see if they would post the pics here for me.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Here is the setup, keep in mind pics 8 & 9 are shot WITH flash, therefore the screens picture is "washed-out". In pictures 11 & 12 notice the elevated floor for the recliners so the view is not obstructed when guests are seated below!

Enjoy!

Nifty as all get out. The Key Digital Scaler/Tuner seems like a great product. Did you decide on that yourself or did a dealer introduce you to it? Also, did you spring for the optional DVI-D input board?

Ed, thanks for the complement. I have worked several years to aquire this set-up and am very proud of it! To be completly honest with you, I am not entirely happy with the Key Digital Hanna Scaler. Yes, it came "stock" with the DVI input, but it is not compatable with my JVC LCOS 21u Projector, therefore I utilize(d) the component pass-through for 1080i. But the scaler softens the picture (NTSC) a bit too much for my taste, and the tuner is...horrible, therefore I use the tuner onboard my Dish Network receiver for local stations (OTA HD). I bought the Hanna piece, used it for a month or two and have since disconnected it in lew of having all video sources direct connect. I don't use the Denon 5800 for video switching for the same reasons (softens the picture too much for my liking).

Anyway, thanks again for the complement Ed!

That's a shame about the Key Digital combo. I was wondering how well it would work, given the reasonable price (for that sort of thing, anyway). I've always found that direct connection is the safest route, though it isn't always in the offing. If it isn't, choosing a switch or processor of some sort can get mighty expensive if you want to extract as much sharpness as possible. Glad to hear that you can could eliminate the scaler without too much difficulty. From what I hear, the JVC is that good. I'd love to see one in action. But I can't help but wonder how a DVI connection would have looked from the Key Digital. It's at least conceivable that it might have mitigated the softness somewhat. Whatever. You must be in heaven. Nice work.

Rob,
This room and setup is truely breathtaking man. You have made the T-man proud. Your system has come along way since the last pictures.

Wow! Love the woodwork in the room. Question: Don't the drapes behind the bipolar DT's absorb a heckuva lot of the sound coming from the rear array? I'd think this would wreak havoc with the DT's ability to throw a large sweet spot. Just curious.

Thanks TT for thecompliments, that really means alot coming from you. And YES, the new setup is FAR superior to the setup I had in my apartment...no comparisone.

Topspeed....the drapes behind the Definitive Technology speakers are not optimal for the bi-polar speaker, but, nearly everything in HT comes with a trade-off. The sound is still incredible I assure you, and the drapes are, well.....incredible also!~

Thanks for the questions and observations....keep 'em coming.
Robert
