Well, not a review exactly. More like a recommendation.
On Saturday night, we went to see the touring company of the Broadway musical, Wicked.
If you have the opportunity to see this show, see it. We go to a fair amount of theatre -- about 6 - 8 shows a year. This is, by far, the best show that I have seen in several years. It's the story of the witches of Oz before Dorothy came along. Talk about a paradox! Nothing is as it seems and watching The Wizard of Oz will never be the same.
Aside from the unexpected twists and turns in the storyline. The music was very good. Nothing really catchy. I didn't walk out humming anything. No somewhere over the rainbow's, but everything was extremely well written and the music continually set the mood.
The costumes, staging and sets were equally well done.
We laughed, we cried (well we didn't cry, but people around us did), we tapped our toes.
If you like live theatre and get the opportunity, I can highly recommend this show. But be warned, this is a not geared towards the kiddies.
