The video signal you get out of a composite video cable is actually a mono analog signal isnt it? so basically if you could connect that composite video cable to a lathe and cut a record with it, and then play it, and feed the amped output to a tv, would you see anything?
i'm NEARLY sure i'm missing something, such as bandwidth problems and such. anyone help me out?

It is an analog signal and a interesting question but I don't think it would do anything because the frequency is different.

If I remember correctly RCA at one time tried to sell a video playback system that used a stylus tracking a vinyl disk. The fact that almost no one knows about it is your answer.

This site may be of interest to you...

This web site pertains to Capacitance Electronic Discs or CED's, a consumer video format on grooved vinyl discs that was marketed by RCA in the 1980's.
