Go with a single disc cdp, you will get better sound.

    Whats your budget?

    Here's a Marantz changer- http://us.marantz.com/Products/3069.asp

    or this Yamaha- http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/p...l?CNTID=451769

If you must have a CD changer and want better sound, then consider a changer with an optical out and use it as a transport connected to a higher end DAC to do the digital to analog processing.

    i suggest a universal player
one that will play cd/dvd/sacd/dvda etc. the newest oppo will do all that and bluray for about $500.

go to the 'buy now' tab for pricing. there are many places to get them and they have been well received in the press (stereophile ferinstance).

of course there are other players that sound good and are affordable but that one is the most capable.

sacd capable players upsample regular cd data and usually sound better than non sacd capable players.

if you have unlimited funds, there are some very good dedicated regular cd players.

    I totally agree with Tommy.

The OppoDigital universal disc players will play virtually any disc and will do it very well. The entry level DVh971(?) model sold new for $149 and was called a "Giant Killer" by the absolute sound. I've seen those used on eBay for around $50.

It will play SACDs, CDs, HDCDs, XRCDs, and MP3s. There isn't a disc changer in the world that can do that. And its got a USB port for other media types.

It will output to 2-channel or 5.1 channels so you can play multi-channel music as well.

And its also a decent DVD player with 1080i upscaling resolution. It plays standard DVDs better than my Blu-Ray player.
