LP deal fell through, back in the market...help

i want to dust off some old LPs from the 80's....haven't heard them since.

I went with a recommended phone preamp from this board (see my other post) and the player deal fell through.

I just want to hear the LPs...don't need audiophile quality sound, just clean sound.

budget is around $50. Can someone recommned a player? thanks...

I can't imagine what kind of turntable you can get for $50 (even used) and where. You might have to double your budget. You willl also need a decent cartridge, which will add to the cost. Click the link below to J&R Music World. They have a Technics table that comes WITH a cartridge for $120 and IMO is a good bargain. Others may have some ideas.

It can be done. I got a used Pioneer PL117D on craigslist for $40. It had a decent Stanton cart, but I changed it to an Ortofon OMB10 and it's much better. Total cost is $75. Probably the best sounding piece of my system.

I have that turntable. It's missing a foot, and it needs a new cartridge. Last time I tried to use it, it was skating pretty bad. I wonder if it could be salvaged and sold.

I was just going to take it apart and use the parts to make a home made record cleaner.

    Is it worth saving?
