    hello..i have a chance to buy a classic TEAC X-1000R Reel to Reel , for just $100.00 , it has the 10" chrome reels , just from the pics it looks like in good shape, the owner doesnt know it it works..what should i do, have to travel about an hour to take a look at it, , need some help please..advice for checking it out..

    That sounds like a very good price. Make sure you examine the heads for excessive wear. Replacing them is not cheap.
