    Hagerman Bugle phono stage

Has anybody ever heard of or used this phono preamp ( http://www.hagtech.com/bugle.html )? The basic unit can be bought as a kit for about $67 plus shipping.

I found out about it through this review ( http://www.audioxpress.com/reviews/m...hansen2090.pdf ) of budget stages, and they seemed to like it.

The company seems to be geared towards the DIYer, and they have a wide variety of designs available.

The Hagerman phono preamps are popular with some over at the vinyl asylum at www.audioasylum.com. Run a search over there and you'll probably find several user comments. Some Hagerman models may be included in their review section.

If you get one, I'd be curious to know how involved assembly is. (I have no DIY skills.)

    Hi Traut,

I don't know the Hagerman. All I can say is that I have listened to a battery powered Phono amp before. And also deadly silent it however lacked some dynamic impact. Sorry I can't be off any more help on this one.

    Have fun

Thanks Dean. I did a little digging at AA, and found out there's a whole forum dedicated to Mr. Hagerman's designs at audiocircle: http://audiocircle.com/circles/viewforum.php?f=52, he also frequents the board and offers free assistance.

There seem to be quite a few fans of his work there, too. I'll probably try and build the Bugle sometime in the near future, after I've completed the subwoofer that I just got an amp for. For now, I'll prbly just pick up the $25 radioshack phono, and make due until I can complete the Bugle.

    Cheers!
