going old school....need pre amp advise

hey guys, i just received a player and need a pre amp to connect to my HT receiver (with no phono).

I can't spend alot of cash...like around $30-40 bucks...so i need some recommendation on where to purchase online and maybe a model recommendation. I want the best sound possible for this low budget.

Also, where does the ground wire go? It has 2 RCA connectors and then what looks like a ground?
