Depending on the thickness of the tonearm stub there are some aftermarket weights available but they cost about $100. Of course you might be able to purchase non functioning ttables for very little money and find a counterweight that might fit. I would not trust the scale and would try to buy a stylus force guage. I do not know if there are any service specialists for Luxman but you might find the weight by doing a search under the brand name. Here are some links that might help www.musicdirect.com, www.turntablebasics.com, www.originlive.com.

Here is a site I googled and they have a section for people looking for Luxman vintage parts. Hope this might help.

it's temporarily fixed by mounting a screw into the backhole of the tonearm (where the counterwheight was supposed to be and putting a counterwheigt from another tt on it, we had to mount the screw because the counterwheigt was to light

    If all else fails...

...do what I was going to do with the Pioneer PL-580 I picked up used and without a counterweight: improvise a shot bucket. Attach a film can or other small container to the end of the arm, and fill it with lead shot until the correct balance is attained. I am going to take another route with the Pioneer - a new DIY arm.

Cool the current and (hopefully) the last solution.

    and it is...

and old technics counterweight, i went to the junkjard again and i found a not working technics tt (dunno which model) but it had a weight and a still intact cartridge, so i took them home, the bad news is that the weight didn't fit, so i had to widen the hole with a drill, after that, the counterwheigt is working (altough the grooves are gone so i have to "slide" it on.
    here are some pictures.

I'm glad your system is working. How do you know if your stylus is tracking near recommended force? You may want to splurge for a something like these to preserve your stylus and precious records. http://www.tnt-audio.com/accessories/shuresfg2_e.html
Looks like you have a Ortofon cart, so it should around 1.5grams?

Also, you should only touch your records on outer edge from the side and on lables. The picture of your record looks like you've been fingering it(R U a DJ?). My friend touched my record one time and left his filthy fingerprints. That sucker is almost impossible to cleanup.

i know, old record (very old record), hasn't been cleaned for a long time, it was just for the photo, the fingerprints and some dirt were still on it,
for the tracking force, i dont actually know or my stylus is near the tracking force but for the moment, guessing & hearing will do, next time when i go to antwerp (nearest big city, in belgium, that is) i'll ask for such a stylus force gauge. btw, no i'm not a dj, i rather only listen to the music then hearing bits of it and mixing it with other bits of music. i'd also be the first one to mix a dave brubeck album

update: thinking about replacing the ortofon needle with a grado one (if i can find one, since belgium doesn't seem to be THE audiophile country.

some people swear by the grados, but if you'r willing to dump 160€ into this, look into the clearaudio aurum classic.
I remember the days when I thought 128kbps sounded great and had never spent more than 10 bucks on cables...
