yamaha amps

Hi...

Saw a Yamaha M-85 amp at the pawn shop going for 399.00

Can any one tell me anything about this amp, an is it worth the price?

Built like a tank and plenty of power. Darn good two channel amp.

How well do you think it would pair with a Marantz 5500 to drive the fronts. They are Paradigm Monitor 7"s

The M-85 is a killer amp from the mid 1980s. It was a flagship amp in the line. I have its little brother the M-65. The amp is class A for like the first 15 watts. They routinely move on ebay for more than 399. I would offer 300. If the guy says no, 399 firm, then that is a good price still.
