    Worth the change?
I am currently running a NAD C272 amp and have no complaints.
Been reading about this new Emotica XPA-2 . Anyone have comments on whether it would be a good move with an audible quality difference and not just beacuse of the power difference?

    Thanks

    Hi Peetie, welcome to AR

What speakers, pre-amp and sources do you have? Also if you have no complaints, why upgrade for the sake of upgrading? Your current poweramp is a good workhorse as it is, unless your speakers are very power hungry.

Thanks for the response. The rest of the system is comprised of NAD C162 Preamp
    B&W 805S speakers
    Rega Apollo CD Player
Boston Acoustics PV 700 Powered sub

I was just wondering if the Emotiva would be a real improvement to the setup
    Thanks

Hi Peetie, the 805's are certainly power hungry, so they will always benefit from more power..

That being said, I think moving from the NAD C272 (150w $700) to an Emotiva XPA-2 (250w $800) is a bit of a sideways move. I'm a big fan of system synergy, and the C272 is a natural partner for your C162 pre-amp.

You can always order the Emotiva and return her if you don't find any improvement, but I personally would stick to the system you have as it has great synergy and you have no complaints with your present system. Also I'd be inclined to upgrade the pre-amp first in your setup, especially as you already have an excellent CD player, and already have a subwoofer paired with your 805's.

    cheers,
